Agile Velocity Chart Gadget overview
What is Agile Velocity Chart Gadget?
Agile Velocity Chart Gadget delivers comprehensive sprint performance analytics for Jira by enabling organizations to measure, analyze, and scale agile velocity across individual contributors, teams, and enterprise portfolios. This dashboard centric reporting tool provides real time visibility into sprint outcomes through flexible data visualization, extensive metrics tracking, and multi level breakdowns.
The gadget supports three distinct chart configurations within a single component for cross team velocity analysis, individual performance monitoring, and benchmarking comparisons. It captures ten separate sprint metrics covering initial and final commitment, work rollover, scope adjustments, added and removed work, estimation revisions, and completion status. Data can be drawn simultaneously from boards, projects, epics, releases, initiatives, and custom queries within Jira. Issue filtering can be tailored by type, epic, release, or complex query conditions. The calculation engine accommodates custom completed work statuses, configurable estimation fields for unestimated issues, rules to exclude near complete items from rollover, and custom assignee field mapping. Visualization options include absolute value displays and normalized views aligned against planned commitment. The gadget includes predefined templates for immediate deployment and enables customization through drag and drop metric selection, reordering, and chart type assignment in bar, stacked bar, or line formats. Benchmarking features incorporate statistical baselines such as average, median, and upper and lower quartile benchmarks with configurable target lines. Metric segmentation can be applied across any Jira attribute with drill down access to underlying issue details. End to end hierarchy support extends from initiatives through epics to stories for enterprise scale tracking.
Integration with Jira dashboards allows saved configurations to be reused as standalone dashboard components for side by side comparison of multiple velocity perspectives. The solution maintains synchronization with Jira data in real time without requiring exports or manual updates. It operates within a unified agile analytics suite that offers nine chart types including throughput, cycle time, burn up and burn down, Monte Carlo forecasting, cumulative flow, work in progress, and created versus resolved visualizations. The gadget supports unlimited team inclusion in calculations and is compatible with both cloud hosted and data center Jira environments. Data privacy is ensured by processing all information within the customer environment without external retention of Jira data.
