Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

BackUp Maker overview
What is BackUp Maker?
BackUp Maker is a comprehensive software solution for Windows operating systems that enables automated data backup and protection. The application serves individual users, small businesses, and enterprise environments requiring scheduled and event driven backup workflows. BackUp Maker leverages a wizard based interface to guide the configuration of backup jobs from file and folder selection to destination management.
The software supports full backups that capture entire data sets, incremental backups that record changed files since the last backup, and differential backups that store modifications since the previous full backup. Backup tasks can be scheduled at predetermined intervals or triggered by system events such as startup or external media connection. Backed up data is compressed using standard ZIP archives to reduce storage footprint and can be encrypted with AES encryption with key lengths of up to two hundred fifty six bits for password protected security. The application allows definition of retention policies to maintain multiple backup generations, and it supports execution of custom actions before and after backup jobs. Email notifications can be configured to report on backup status, failures, and errors.
BackUp Maker provides flexible storage options including local drives, external USB devices, network attached storage accessible via SMB and CIFS protocols, optical media in compliance with SCSI pass through standards, and cloud storage services. Cloud integration is achieved either through desktop applications from major providers that mount cloud folders in file explorer or through direct connections using WebDAV, SFTP, and FTP protocols. Network drive mapping is supported across administrator and standard user contexts. The software also integrates with the Windows Smartphone Link feature to back up media and documents from connected mobile devices.
BackUp Maker operates as a standard application or can be configured to run as a service through task scheduling, enabling unattended backups without user logon sessions. The software is compatible with Windows Seven, Windows Eight, Windows Eight Point One, Windows Ten, and Windows Eleven, as well as multiple Windows Server editions. It relies solely on standard file system interfaces and network protocols, avoiding proprietary APIs, and includes detailed logging for activity tracking and verification of backup integrity.
