Faktwise is a cloud-based Shopify app that automatically generates legally compliant EU e-invoices for every paid order, with no manual invoicing work required. Designed for Shopify merchants based in Germany or selling into the EU, it produces structured invoices in ZUGFeRD 2.4 and XRechnung 3.0.2 formats and applies the correct EU VAT scheme per transaction across six supported schemes: standard, reverse charge, OSS, intra-community supply, export, and the German small business scheme under §19. VAT IDs are validated in real time against the EU VIES service, and Leitweg-ID capture supports B2G invoicing for public-sector buyers. Automatic credit notes are generated on refunds, and gap-free sequential invoice numbering is enforced throughout. All invoice formats are validated in CI against the official KoSIT and XRechnung validators and veraPDF, matching the standards used by German tax auditors.

Faktwise is installed directly from the Shopify App Store, with billing handled through Shopify. The archive is hosted in the EU (Paris) and operates as a GoBD-compliant, append-only 10-year store, eliminating the need for a separate archiving solution. A monthly ZIP export containing PDFs, XMLs, and a CSV summary is prepared automatically for accountants. A quarterly OSS report and a BOP CSV import file for the German BZSt portal are included at no extra cost. Merchants can search and download invoices directly from a dashboard inside Shopify admin.
