Folklore overview
What is Folklore?
Folklore is web-based clinical variant interpretation software for genetic laboratories, clinical geneticists, variant scientists and bioinformaticians working with panels, exomes and whole genomes.
Teams can review variant annotations alongside ACMG/AMP classification evidence, phenotype and inheritance context, and supporting literature. Variant prioritisation and case-level review help specialists examine findings in the context of the case, while structured reporting keeps the supporting evidence available for professional review.
Folklore accepts common variant representations, including genomic coordinates, HGVS, SPDI and rsID. Variant review includes links to genome context, allowing users to move between individual findings and the relevant genomic region.
A public read-only MCP server lets compatible AI tools retrieve supported single-variant evidence and literature. This access supports evidence review; clinical interpretation remains the responsibility of qualified professionals.
Folklore supports individual accounts and multiuser organizations. Documentation and email support are available. The software supports clinical judgment and does not replace it.
