FuneralGuestbook is an iPad app that replaces the paper guestbook at visitations, funerals, memorials, and celebrations of life — and turns what guests write into data the funeral home can actually use.

How it works. A director creates a service, sets the iPad on a stand, and hands it to the room. Guests sign with any capacitive stylus or a fingertip, in their own handwriting, on a page that looks like a guestbook. On submit, AI transcription reads the handwriting and extracts structured fields — name, phone number, email address, mailing address, and an optional preplanning interest flag — into the home's dashboard in seconds. Nothing about the ritual changes for the family; everything downstream changes for the home.

Signing without an iPad. Every service also gets a short link and a QR code. Guests who cannot attend, or who arrive while the iPad is busy, sign from their own phone in a browser — no app install and no account for the guest.

Built for the day. Entries save locally on the iPad and sync automatically when a connection returns, so a chapel with no reliable Wi-Fi is not a problem. Guided Access locks the iPad to the guestbook, so guests can sign but cannot navigate away. A staff PIN protects the settings menu. One iPad can run several services, each with its own guestbook, entries, QR code, and settings, and multiple iPads can cover a single service.

After the service. Every entry lands in a browser dashboard the home can open on any device, transcribed into typed fields. A guestbook PDF can be generated for the family as a keepsake. The home finally knows who attended, with the contact details for thank-you notes, aftercare, and follow-up.

Obituary sync. Claim your funeral home and your services create themselves: obituaries already published on your website import automatically, so a director does not retype what they have already written.
