Kanera overview

What is Kanera?

Kanera is a project management and work coordination software that provides cross project visibility through a unified workspace interface. The platform is designed for teams, agencies and organizations managing multiple concurrent projects, clients and deliverables who require centralized oversight without fragmenting work across disconnected boards or tools. It addresses operational challenges faced by project managers, delivery teams and client facing organizations that need to maintain clarity on assignments, progress, blockers and completed work across their entire portfolio while minimizing administrative overhead.

The software operates through three primary interface modes that support different workflow requirements. The Home view serves as a centralized dashboard that aggregates overdue items, tasks due today, work scheduled within the next seven days and completed items from the current week and includes a section that groups all assigned cards and checklist items by due date across all accessible boards. The Board view provides a traditional Kanban style list management experience with visual cards that display labels, due dates, checklist status and ownership assignments. The Table view presents the same card data in a structured tabular format that can be toggled from the board header without data migration. Cross project visibility features include My Cards, which consolidates all cards assigned to each user across every accessible board, Team Cards, which aggregates work assigned to team members, and Portfolio view, which provides management level oversight across all projects while preserving the original board level permissions for each card. The Work Done feature maintains a dated historical record of card completions, checklist item completions and card movements between lists for up to sixty days with each entry attributed to the responsible user and associated with its originating board context.

Cards support custom fields, checklists, labels, due dates, owner assignments and attachments. The Notes functionality allows teams to create project documentation and runbooks that can be bidirectionally linked to cards, establishing contextual relationships between work items and their supporting documentation. Automation rules follow a When and Do structure that triggers actions based on card list transitions, due date arrivals or checklist completions and enable automatic label application, owner assignment, date setting or completion marking without manual intervention. The notification system provides configurable alerts for mentions, assignments and due dates through both push notifications and email channels. Offline functionality maintains access to recently viewed boards when network connectivity is unavailable and synchronizes with the workspace automatically when connection is restored.

Integration capabilities are provided through a Model Context Protocol connector that enables AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor and Gemini CLI to interact with workspace data through OAuth authenticated connections. Users authorize specific permissions for AI agents to read board state, triage work items and update cards, and can revoke access through profile settings. Data migration features support a guided import process for transfers from Trello, moving boards, cards, lists, members, custom fields, comments and attachments with review steps before finalization, and API assisted migration paths are available for transitions from other project management platforms. The software is available as both a hosted service managed by the vendor and as a source available deployment option under the Elastic License two point zero, with Docker based self hosting supported for organizations with specific infrastructure or compliance requirements. Installation across desktop, tablet and mobile devices is supported through progressive web application functionality, enabling the application to operate as a standalone installed application with its own icon rather than as a browser tab. Performance optimization ensures that card opening, view switching, navigation and real time synchronization remain responsive as workspace size grows, with recent boards cached for offline availability.
