Light Cloud overview

What is Light Cloud?

Light Cloud is a deployment platform that takes a web application from GitHub repository to live URL — frontend, backend, and database — with no CI pipeline to configure and no DevOps hire required. It is built for developers, startup teams, and agencies that want production infrastructure to be something they use, not something they operate.

Deployments — Connect a repository and every push builds and deploys automatically. Light Cloud detects the framework, package manager, build command, and output directory: React, Vue, Angular, Svelte, and Next.js (static or server-rendered) on the frontend; Node, Python, Go, Java, Ruby, PHP, and .NET backends running as auto-scaling containers. npm, yarn, pnpm, pip, and poetry are matched to the correct install and build steps. If the repo has no Dockerfile, one is generated for the detected framework; if it has one, it wins. Every deploy records its commit, message, author, duration, and full build log, and any earlier commit can be redeployed for instant rollback.

Environments — Each branch can have its own environment with a separate URL, build settings, and environment variables. Opening a pull request builds a preview automatically; deleting the branch removes it, so stale previews never pile up. Production is marked and protected from branch activity, and previews are built exactly like production, so what reviewers see is what ships. Idle containers scale to zero, so unused environments cost nothing.

Database, domains, observability — Managed PostgreSQL is provisioned from the same console: choose a tier, region, and storage size, with optional high availability, and connection details are injected into the application as environment variables. Custom domains require a single DNS record; SSL certificates are issued and renewed automatically. Build logs stream live, and runtime logs and metrics sit beside each environment, with production and previews kept separate.

Integrations — GitHub is first-class: OAuth sign-in, auto-deploy on push, per-branch preview environments, and deployment status shown directly on commits. For AI-assisted development, an MCP server lets developers create apps, deploy, manage environments, and read logs from a Claude conversation, and a published VS Code extension adds @lightcloud commands (/deploy, /plan, /status, /redeploy) to GitHub Copilot Chat — the deployment layer plugs into the tools engineering teams already run.

Data security — Traffic is encrypted in transit with automatically managed certificates, and data is encrypted at rest. Databases are network-isolated rather than publicly exposed, GitHub webhook payloads are cryptographically verified, authentication uses signed tokens, and API routes are rate-limited.

Pricing — Usage-based billing with a hard monthly cap: metered usage stops billing at the plan price, so the plan price is the most a team can pay. Plans are Free ($0 cap), Starter ($19), Pro ($49), and Business ($149), with teammates added at a flat $9 per user per month. The $0-cap Free plan runs a real application end to end, no card required.

Light Cloud also maintains ICE, an open-source visual editor for designing and deploying infrastructure to a team's own cloud accounts.
