Mobile Warehouse Management overview
What is Mobile Warehouse Management?
Unvired SAP Mobile Inventory Management gives warehouse and materials teams a mobile application, integrated directly with SAP, for the core transactions that keep inventory accurate: stock overview, goods movement, issue and return of materials, physical inventory counting, goods receipt, and purchase requisition creation — all performed from a handheld device on the warehouse floor rather than at a fixed terminal.
Workers can check real-time stock levels filtered by plant, storage location, material, and batch before making a decision, and execute goods movements — issuing materials to a cost center, transferring between storage locations, returning unused stock — with barcode or RFID scanning ensuring the correct material and batch are selected every time. This eliminates a common source of inventory error: manual transposition mistakes when material numbers or batch codes are typed rather than scanned.
Physical inventory counting, one of the most operationally disruptive warehouse activities when done on paper, becomes significantly more efficient with the mobile app: counters work against a specific document number and year directly on their device, with counts posting to SAP immediately rather than being collected on paper sheets and reconciled by someone else afterward. Goods receipt processing follows a similar pattern, letting staff receive inbound materials against purchase orders on the spot, with instant visibility into what remains outstanding.
The app also allows warehouse staff to create purchase requisitions directly from the floor the moment a stock shortage is identified, cutting the delay between spotting a need and getting a requisition into the procurement pipeline — rather than requiring a separate system, form, or supervisor request.
Built offline-first, the app keeps functioning in warehouse zones with poor connectivity — common in facilities with heavy metal racking, cold storage, or outdoor yard areas — automatically syncing all transactions to SAP once a connection is restored. It deploys across iOS, Android, and Windows devices and integrates with barcode scanners and RFID readers already common in warehouse operations.
For Warehouse Managers, Supply Chain Directors, and Materials Managers running SAP in manufacturing, consumer products, oil & gas, and chemicals, the practical outcome is that SAP inventory records reflect what's actually happening on the floor in near real time, rather than lagging behind by a shift or more while paper pick lists and count sheets get manually re-entered. A free proof-of-concept is available to validate fit against a specific SAP inventory and warehouse configuration.
