What is SpanTime?
SpanTime is a desktop time tracker for people who bill by the hour. It covers the path from starting a timer to exporting an invoice-ready report, and it does all of it locally.
What makes it different:
Most time tracking tools are cloud services with monthly per-user pricing. SpanTime is not. There is no sign-up, no server, and no recurring fee. It works with no internet connection, and every entry is stored in a readable file on the machine that created it.
Core functionality:
- Timer: start and stop against a client and job in one click, from the app, the menu bar, a floating widget, or a keyboard shortcut.
- Rates: rates per client or per service, rounded to match your invoices.
- Budgets: an hour budget per project, with an alert before it is exceeded.
- Reporting: billable ratio, hours by client, earnings by month. PDF, CSV, JSON export.
- Search: filter and search every past entry, with labelled undo and redo.
