Spinifex is an open-source, AWS-compatible cloud platform designed for operators who require full infrastructure control, data sovereignty, and offline capability. The platform implements 381 AWS API actions spanning EC2, EBS, S3, VPC, IAM, ALB/NLB, EKS, ECR, ECS, and RDS, and runs on operator-controlled bare-metal, virtual machines, multi-node HA clusters, or partner-hosted Neocloud infrastructure. Existing AWS workloads, tooling (AWS CLI, SDKs, Terraform), and AMIs migrate without code changes by updating a single endpoint URL. Deployment options include a bootable ISO/USB, a one-line curl install, and container images. Pre-integrated configurations are available on validated partner hardware including Cisco Unified Edge, ASUS PE3000N and PE4000G, Critical Shift Nexus, Supermicro, and OnLogic HX401. Licensed under AGPL-3.0 with a commercial license option.

Spinifex targets defence and military operators running mission software at the tactical edge in air-gapped, denied, disconnected, and resource-constrained environments, as well as regulated industries including financial services, healthcare, energy, and government programs with data residency or sovereignty mandates. The platform runs on any Linux-capable x86 or ARM hardware with no proprietary hardware dependency, from rack servers to rugged single-node appliances. Core storage is provided by Viperblock (EBS-compatible block storage with write-ahead log, NVMe write-back cache, snapshots, and replication) and Predastore (S3-compatible object storage with Reed-Solomon erasure coding, multipart uploads, SigV4 auth, and multi-node clustering). Networking is delivered via OVN/OVS-based VPC. GPU workloads are supported through PCIe passthrough for near-native performance, NVIDIA MIG partitioning, and BlueField DPU support as add-ons, with H100, H200, and B200 GPU capacity available on the hosted Neocloud. AWS Bedrock API support for foundation models is on the roadmap for Q4 2026.
