The Bid Sheet overview
What is The Bid Sheet?
The Bid Sheet is a web-based bid-pricing and profitability verification platform built specifically for construction contractors. It combines company financial settings with job-specific costs to calculate a defensible breakeven cost and the selling price required to achieve the selected profit margin before a bid is submitted.
Owners establish the company’s labor burden, indirect costs, general and administrative expenses, labor rates, material taxes, bond rates, and target profit margins. Estimators then enter each bid’s labor hours, materials, subcontractors, equipment, and miscellaneous costs. The Bid Sheet applies those settings consistently and separates cost recovery from profit, helping contractors avoid confusing markup with margin or relying on arbitrary percentages.
Owner and estimator permissions, team management, and bid-approval workflows provide financial control while allowing estimators to work efficiently. Each calculation creates a clear breakdown of the bid’s cost structure, breakeven amount, and required selling price.
The Bid Sheet is not intended to replace takeoff, estimating, project-management, or accounting software. It provides an independent financial check that helps contractors confirm that a proposed bid covers the company’s actual costs and protects the intended profit margin.
