Our commitment
Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

VanillaPM overview
What is VanillaPM?
VanillaPM is a project management platform built on the Project Management Body of Knowledge eighth edition framework. It aligns with the five standard process groups and seven performance domains to guide teams through initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closure. The architecture links modules to a unified work breakdown structure and enforces consistent governance and auditability. The design serves disciplines such as construction, marketing, information technology, software development, agencies, and donor funded programmes.
Scope management features include requirements documentation with a traceability matrix, hierarchical work breakdown structure creation from markdown and comma separated values format, control account handling, and formal deliverable acceptance workflows. Schedule capabilities include task dependencies, critical path analysis, timeline visualisation, three point estimation and program evaluation and review techniques, resource leveling, adaptive workflows via Kanban boards, and sprint planning. Earned value management offers schedule performance and cost performance indices, schedule metrics, variance analysis, forecasting, Monte Carlo simulation for median and high percentile projections, and compression analytics. Risk management provides a full register for threats and opportunities, probability impact scoring, expected monetary value calculations, contingency planning, response documentation, trigger monitoring, and assumption promotion. Financial management tracks costs across work breakdown structure nodes, establishes baselines, compares planned and actual expenditures, supports multiple currencies with fixed exchange rate snapshots, and performs net present value, return on investment, and payback analyses. Stakeholder and team modules enable power interest and salience mapping, engagement tracking, communications planning, RACI matrices, resource allocation, organisational structure management, staff directories, workload distribution, capacity planning, and scenario modelling. A governed knowledge base stores charters and management plans as living documents with version control, approval workflows, document export, full text search, decision tree diagrams, checklists, internal linking, and an organisation wide library. Governance and reporting features include integrated change control workflows, phase gate management, capability based role assignments, an append only audit trail, and cross module reports with data export options.
AI functions operate only with explicit consent and require an external API key or metered access to generate content from project data without referencing external sources. The AI module drafts document sections for charters and management plans in table, checklist, or narrative formats for reviewer approval. A conversational assistant reads project elements such as tasks, risks, stakeholders, and documents within permission boundaries and proposes item level changes for authorisation. A guided mode explains the rationale for each step of the standard during project setup and execution. A certification reinforcement tool presents eighty flashcards covering all PMBOK processes and advances items through spaced repetition to support knowledge retention.
The platform architecture ensures that all functional areas remain connected to the same work breakdown structure with governed approval and audit processes. It scales to teams of all sizes and supports both single and multiple project hierarchies with role based access controls. The interface adapts to multiple languages, including English, Bengali, Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, French, and Russian. Configuration options permit integration of document drafting and assistance features while maintaining strict data governance.
