Kanban Board by VirtoSoftware brings visual task management to the Microsoft stack by turning SharePoint lists and document libraries into interactive Kanban or Scrum boards. It is available as a Microsoft 365 add-in for SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams, and as a web part for SharePoint Server 2013, 2016, 2019, and Subscription Edition in on-premises environments.

Each board reads from one or more SharePoint lists, so cards reflect live list items. Tasks are organized into columns and horizontal swimlanes that can represent status, teams, projects, or priorities. Any choice field can drive swimlanes. Moving a card with drag and drop updates the underlying status in the source list, keeping SharePoint and the board in sync.

Cards support subtasks, comments, attachments, images, links, and tags. Color-coded markers add visual context: overdue tasks show a red border and high-priority tasks a blue border by default. Work-in-progress limits can be set per column to surface bottlenecks, and custom filters narrow the view to relevant items.

For planning and reporting, board templates speed up setup, while burndown, completion, lead time, and status charts help teams review throughput and progress. A notification system and task watchers keep stakeholders informed of changes to specific fields, and board-level permissions control who can edit tasks.

Boards integrate into Microsoft Teams channels so task management sits alongside conversations. Because data is read directly from SharePoint, information remains within the organization's Microsoft 365 tenant or on-premises SharePoint farm.
