What is Virto Kanban Board App?
Virto Kanban Board App brings visual task management to Microsoft 365 by turning SharePoint lists into interactive Kanban boards in SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams.
Each board reads from one or more SharePoint lists, so cards reflect live list items. Tasks are organized into columns and horizontal swimlanes that can represent status, teams, projects, or priorities. Moving a card with drag and drop updates the underlying status in the source list, keeping SharePoint and the board in sync.
Cards support subtasks, comments, attachments, and color-coded markers. Work-in-progress limits can be set per column to surface bottlenecks, and custom filters narrow the view to relevant items.
For planning and reporting, the Quick Board template speeds up setup, while Status, Assigned To, Completion, Burndown, and Lead Time charts help teams review throughput and progress; a board can also be exported to PDF. Board roles and permissions control who can edit tasks, and notifications on task changes are set up in Virto Alerts & Reminder App, included in the subscription.
Boards can be added to Microsoft Teams channels so task management sits alongside conversations. Because data is read directly from SharePoint, task data remains within the organization's Microsoft 365 tenant. For SharePoint Server on-premises, VirtoSoftware offers a separate product, Virto Kanban Board Web Part.
