Virto Workflow Automation adds a library of more than 270 no-code workflow activities to SharePoint Designer on SharePoint Server (on-premises), letting teams automate business processes without writing custom workflow code. The package combines Virto SharePoint Workflow Activities, Virto Workflow Status Monitor, and Virto Workflow Scheduler.

After installation, the additional activities appear inside SharePoint Designer next to the standard SharePoint workflow actions, on both the SharePoint 2010 and 2013 workflow platforms, and can be combined in the same way.

The action library covers a broad range of automation scenarios:

- Communication: send rich HTML email notifications and reminders, and SMS messages through supported gateways.

- Lists and content: create, update and manage SharePoint sites, lists and document libraries; copy, move and convert files and folders.

- Permissions and security: set permissions on items, lists and sites, including stopping and restoring permission inheritance.

- Active Directory: work with Active Directory users, groups and membership.

- Data and metadata: handle managed metadata, dictionaries and arrays; read and write values across items.

- Integration: run SQL queries, send HTTP requests, and call custom C# or VB.NET code to connect with external systems.

- Utilities: date and time calculations, text manipulation and conversion, and file operations.

Workflow Status Monitor shows what is in progress or failed across sites, site collections, or the farm, and Workflow Scheduler starts workflows by date, time, item, event, or field value without SharePoint Designer. A missing activity can be requested from VirtoSoftware.

The product is built for on-premises SharePoint Server and supports SharePoint Server 2016, 2019 and Subscription Edition.
