A good way to share information company wide, but I prefer MS Teams or Slack

2019-02-04

Pros

LinkedIn/message board style posting, allows conversation and feedback on posts. Integration with Office365. It's a great way to share company achievements and pictures from the field.

Cons

I heard complaints of "another communication tool, why not just use email or Slack/MS Teams".

Fairly basic, especially when compared to the competition

2018-06-21

Pros

It is an easy way to get everybody on the same page. The ability to tag users and interface with other pieces of software is ideal.

Cons

It is a bit cumbersome and lacking compared to solutions like Slack. It has been largely the same for years now.

Yammer helps you connect with colleagues - great on a computer webbroswer but Apps need more love

2018-02-08

Pros

My company uses Yammer - this is how I started using it. Like many similar products it does a good job of fostering communications across geographical distances and works better than Email for groups.

Cons

The webapp is fine, but mobile apps are not up to standards and not intuitive when compared to apps such as WhatsApp or Slack.

Is this still necessary?

2017-12-07

Pros

Now that Yammer went into Microsoft ecosystem, i often wonder how i should use, if it is not old compared with Other popular too. The key is -i guess- the fact you can use it as a place to post things you do not want them to disappear quickly.

Cons

It really has to be reenginered to find its own reason why i a a world with Teams, Slack and so on.

Facebook for the Enterprise

2018-11-05

We used this for collaboration but now have Slack and Google Docs that does the job for us.

Pros

Simple user interface which was more like Facebook so was adapted to easily when we were using it.

Cons

Seems dated now. We have other software applications doing more for us

Yammer is a Facebook-like social media tool for intranet purposes within a company

2018-07-05

excellent analytics, easy to use interface, an opportunity to have various threads in groups across the company

Pros

easy to navigate, even better than the browser version - it is like Facebook, which is polarizing to employees who prefer Slack and other more "Twitter-like" communication tools - in the admin view, I've been pleased with the level of detailed analytics

Cons

The organization and search-ability leave something to be desired. Sorting is strictly chronological, which makes it hard to find specific posts later on.

Good for Personal but not enterprise

2018-11-14

we use slack how someone would use Yammer. Post some messages, maybe ask some questions, etc.

Pros

I like how I can have different slack areas without the need to sign out.

Cons

its not really connected to anything and I have to have a separate log-in.

Good looking and functional

2019-03-26

Totally different UX comparable with old gamers like Skype or Yammer

Pros

The best feature in Slack is its ability to connect with other tools like Jira/Trello/etc. It's very comfortable to get all the info in one place to collaborate over the project. Also, a good-looking modern design also brings great value to the product.

Cons

Limited file storage on a free version. It's OK and normal to bill the extended storage but I liked it the least =) Also, poor Android app performance. It crashes all the time.

Great product little privacy

2017-04-12

I would recommend this over Yammer any day of the week.

Pros

It is easy to use, integrates seamlessly with multiple platforms and allows for easy workplace collaboration.

Cons

There is virtually no way to ensure private conversations are private. There is a lot of big brother watching you with this application.

Ideal solution for company collaboration and sharing

2019-02-06

We are using Slack within our company for a number of use cases: internal communication, file sharing, channels for communication on a specific customer, etc. Next to work-related topics, we use other channels for personal topics such as a book club, lunch options, offers, etc. I really like having a direct line to colleagues both in the office and on the go.

Pros

I have used other collaboration tools like Skype and Yammer, but prefer Slack above these.

Cons

It is sometimes difficult to remember the shortcuts to specific features within slack (i.e. /polly, /giphy, etc.). Then again, I am fairly new to Slack and there may be an easier option to get to the shortcuts I do not know about yet. Other than that, I do not have any negative feedback about Slack.
