This software helps me, the subcontractor, get what I need from the contractor with little to no issue. Everything that the contractor needs me to have is placed right there in front of me.
It gives the subcontractor a smooth process in obtaining the contract documents for a project. The contractor has the ability to upload and list all required information. The user interface is very easy to use and everything is straight forward.
There isn't much not to like. I do wish that there was a folder style download system so that single sheets could be downloaded if necessary.

Great Customer support, great site.
I love to use this software when I have jobs out of town! Building Connected has a great Sub contractor base.
I use the free service and I can only use this for a certain distance. But I am still happy to have this free service!

Not good
Ease of use but functionality effects that
There are a lot of functionality issues, but the biggest one is that general contractor has no control of the database or the "Key Words"

This product is easy to use, great time saving for sending invitations to subcontractors, it has a great data of subcontractors too.
Not sure how often do you update the database, I've found incorrect info. I would like the system to let the contractor create a database for their preferred subs.

It was great to keep track of projects in the preconstruction phase. Every member of the team could make notes on the status of contractor proposals and keep us on the same page.
It's very user friendly. I've used mostly for project bidding and its great to keep track of different contractor's proposals and status so that all my team members are on the same page. Also, very easy to share documents.
There is honestly not a lot that I did not like about the software.

In our business, the more contractors we can get to submit a proposal, the more impressive is our presentation to the client. Our previous goal was to be able to present 3 proposals for each trade to the client. Now it is not unusual to have as many 10 -- or more! Many of these have been sourced from your service. Keep up the good work. Our annual subscription fee to you is well worth the money.
We get many new contractors from your lists. They are mostly, if not always competent in attendance, professional in attitude and proficient in quality. As we are licensed in all 50 states, we frequently call these new trade partners for repeat contracts in their local markets. Your connections are invaluable in smaller markets where we have not worked before.
Sometimes the listed trades are incorrect. For example, often a contractor will be listed as "Gypsum" and upon calling, we find they are carpenters and don't do gypsum at all. Also contractors will listed as doing multiple trades that they do not do.

This software platform is intuitive and easy to use. The public contractor database is already populated with most people we work with, adding other contacts is easy as inputting an email address! Communicating with every invited bidder or just a subset with follow up information is just as easy.
We've submitted a couple suggested enhancements, the Building Connected team is always willing to listen to feedback and improve the platform.

The only benefit we received from this software was an understanding on what didn't work for our business.
This software had loads of great features and integrated project management tools. It imported your data base for simple software transition with your client directory, and tracks and manages your project with a nice easy to use dashboard.
It just wasn't right for a sub-contractor in the sheet metal industry. It also did not allow for importing our client directory from a DOS run software basically requiring someone to do data entry for weeks before we realized this wasn't the software for us.

Keeps everyone connected and everything in one place. Very easy to use and all contacts readily available. Love the calendar syncing.
I like that this connects all parts of the job and makes it easy for file sharing and calendar syncing. You can easily contact the head contractor with any questions and keep all files in one place. If any information gets updated everyone on the page can see changes and you get email updates.
I have not found anything that I do not like about this software.

The software takeoff has made estimating quantities faster than compiling quantities with a paper copy and a ruler. The accuracy of the takeoff is likely increased due to the accuracy of the software versus the human error factor involved with hand figuring quantities.
I really like that the software compiles many projects into one central location to make it easy to find project information and to check bid dates and addendum information in one general area. This software integrated into our existing platform with ease making it much more likely that we will continue to use the software.
I would really like to see a better system of notifying subcontractors of their bid status on particular projects. It would be nice if they could be informed right away upon project award instead of needing to reach out to the winning general contractor to determine which subs they will go with.

Building Connected provided us with the opportunity to network with organizations we may not have otherwise encountered, allowing us to increase the competitiveness of our bids.
For a quote on a task, take advantage of BuildingConnected's unique feature that allows you to collaborate with different office locations within the same company profile to acquire an estimate. It's also extremely simple to operate. You can invite existing building connect companies to participate, as well as invite new trades. Changes to the tender package can be made quickly and easily without having to email each contractor individually.
In areas where the BuildingConnected can readily perform magnificently, there aren't many dislikes, and we haven't had any issues with it yet, which is encouraging.

As a trade contractor doing about $5 million a year I've been getting plans and proposals from GC's via BuildingConnected's 'Private plan room' for several years now. I've noticed recently the change in GUI and functionality and investigated. I wound up with a few days to test drive the full product and liked it quite a bit. Unfortunately I'm not convinced of the day to day justification for the...
The ability to find those GC's that are bidding on the same projects (why not submit your proposal to all bidders?) easily and accurately. The almost infinitely customizable search interface. Finding new GC's in regional markets and being able to research them and their projects BEFORE I ask to be included in ITB's! Integration with my current 'free' account.
Not an even rudimentary ability to manage MY subcontractors and vendors! They offer this feature in a richly granular way in the product they market to GC's, put a stripped down version HERE if you REALLY want to attract trade contractors!! Probably too costly for the returns for many trade contractors, yet not feature rich enough to appeal to larger trade contractors.
