Pros

I have just started using this software and I love it. I visited a store and the owner introduced me to this software to gain reward points after shopping to get exclusive content.
It was extremely easy to set up, and easy to use. The user interface is beautiful, and customers really enjoy how sleek and clean it looks.
I love the fact that I can earn points when I visit my favorite restaurants. It is also a safe an d secure app.

Pros

I love the simplicity of the software. I love being able to accept credit card or debit card payments directly on my phone with the small noninvasive card reader that i attach to my phone.
I love this software, our employees love it too because it gives them better tips at the end of the day.
Simple reporting is my favorite feature, especially compared to other platforms. Helping my clients with meaningful reporting without having to modify the data is super convenient.

Cons

The Shopify integration does not work either, and for me failed at the first hurdle, (I have now been waiting 14 days for a fix).
The E-Commerce integration does not work. The Magento integration is for Magento 1m which was made obsolete in June 2018, and is no longer supported.
It horrible from A to Z, the tips always wrong, the report can’t tell how much food, liquor ,2 managers and 3 bartenders left because this system.

Cons

I do not think I have have anything I do not like about square payments. I guess if you put in the wrong email that can be annoying but that more user error.
I had to walk around & often ended up some distance away from the customer. It was awkward because I had to have their card with me & this probably made the customer feel uneasy.
It also bothered me that they charge more to type in the card numbers when you’re unable to swipe the card in person.

Clover for small business payment processing

Highly recommended as an alternative to Square for business on the go!

Pros

My business switched to Clover Go for payment processing after Square kicked us to the curb because they decided, with no warning or notice, that they would not let certain law practices use the service. We had to scramble and locate a new program for payment processing needs. Clover stepped up and we have used them ever since. We can take all forms of credit card payments using Clover. Their rates are reasonable and the funds are posted within a couple of days. We are very pleased!

Cons

We love Clover and have nothing bad to say about it.

It's fine. I wouldn't say it's any better than Square, but it's perfectly functional.

Pros

I use this to process payments at the door of a music venue, and it's perfectly functional. Nice to be able to pair the card reader to the device using bluetooth instead of having to use a headphone or power jack.

Cons

It's weird that sometimes, when I look back on the 'Transactions' screen, transactions that take place after 9pm PST that day don't show up. So I can't get a full review of my day's transactions? It doesn't store people's info for receipts like Square does, so if they want a receipt, they have to type in their phone number or email every time.

Pros

getting payments...making payments, and your transaction history is very accessible.

Cons

it could be alittle cheaper but if im being honest its worth every single penny, well done.

LIARS and Thieves....

Horrible.. they lied to us and are still charging me for a service I do not use. Splitting up with Clover is worst then a divoirce. They will lure you with the promise of cheap rates, give you convulted pricing with add on fees. And ghost you as you try to cancel the service. They steal about 32 dollars from use each month, and we have exhuasted options to cancel the services. I hope by leaving this review I save others from making the same mistake.

Pros

Nothing that you could not get with square... reconcillation is a head ache.. and acess to data is poorly laid out.

Cons

No Custmer Service, as it is outsourced to south east asia. We are still trying to cancelling our sevice even after 6 months. Constantly told they are working on it and will call us back, but you will never receive a call back. You just get ghosted. They low rates are deceiving since the tack on add on fees and the rates are varied depending on CC. They will quote you the cheapest rate for the low grade Credit Card to suck you in. We went back to Square, since they are upfront and transparent about all their fees.

The crash of Clover

I’m a month pass our warranty and because of their crash I end up having to pay over $300 to replace a piece of equipment

Pros

A piece of equipment failed because of their crash and unable to use the system basically out of business until it is fixed and I had to pay for it. It’s been over a week already looks like another week.

Cons

Very unreliable I had a business you better have a back up system like Square and an iPad and a cash register

Clover - Recent switch from Square and we are saving a TON of money in fees

Now, with Clover, we have a clover mini and the POS is great,. We needed a system that could print paper receipts.

Pros

We switched and saved. Before, we were paying a certain percentage across the boards, with Square. Now we have great fees and pricing with Clover.

Cons

The thing I like the least, which is common with systems like Clover, it took a while to get acclimatized and for funds to make it to our account in a timely manner.

They allow me to take payments quite easily.

Cons

Pretty much everything else is a negative. It's hard to know where to start. To begin, you must know that they disallow the use of used equipment. That means if you're dissatisfied with Clover your equipment is pretty much bricked. You get nothing for it. Oh, and you will be dissatified with them. There are so many annoyances. Their batch is setup for 7pm PST, in the middle of a shift. Their deposits...

Clover has been an excellent option for taking payments in my stores.

Pros

My coffee shop uses clover devices as our POS system. The software is convenient and easy to place in a store. It features many apps that make it applicable to nearly any market. They also have many accessories- the main one we use are the receipt printers (small and regular size), the handheld tablet, and the customer interface screen.

Cons

Over time the clover tablets do slow down. We frequently reboot them to rev up the speed.

Customer Service is Non Existant

I get better customer service from the drive thru at McDonalds.

Pros

Its not difficult to process payments and they are automatically reconciled

Cons

My Clover Flex machine will not work and I have been on hold and dealing with two different support agents now for TWO HOURS. This is ridiculous. Im am now on hold for a "Tier 2" support agent which I assume will be more nonsense and two agents already have no clue why my devise will not connect to the internet. Its fortunate that i can process payments via my computer but why did I pay $$$$ for this Clover Flex machine which has been nothing but problems and slow at connecting via someones modem or cell data.

Bad online presence

Not great impression, especially given we were pushed to buy the hardware.

Pros

How does a POS during COVID TIMES, not include photos on the online menu? Clover takes the register’s inventory list that is made for in-house ease of ordering and makes a million item list as a “online menu”. Customers are expected to read through the menu like a newspaper. How is this a good marketing strategy? Seams like an ABC rule for any POS company to perfect, if not in normal times, it should be a priority to fix immediately.

Cons

Rep sold the system as competitive to Square. We bought it only because the rep promised to build an online website for ordering, like square does for free. We didn’t know we will be getting a newspaper list filled with items that are priced “ FREE” because the price depended on the size of the drink, “ a modifier” . Hiring a person to give this some thought at clover would be a plus.

Great for anyone needing to take payments on the go and very easy to use.

Pros

Recently my store started doing mobile grooming. Clover is perfect for being able to accept credit and debit cards on the go so people have options other than cash or check. It makes our lives easier and our clients lives as well.

Cons

Had trouble logging in at first and setting up a passord.

over all very pleased!!!!!!! except the updating part!!! very stressful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! every year!! like taking a major exam!! each year they ask for updates and each year it is more technical, and extreme even with some savy computer people like applying for a bar exam to be a lawyer!!

Pros

the ease to process payments and the response entering to the bank account

Cons

the high fees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the updating every so many months!! keeps on changing!! very stressful!!!!!! does not always benefit clients!! like taking a Bar Exam!! or applying for a mortgage !!!!!!

Contactless payments have been helpful. It also has the ability to read without swiping/inserting card.

Pros

I enjoy the bluetooth capabilities of this software/card reading block. It made for contactless payments in a pandemic reality that much easier

Cons

Connecting to bluetooth is a bit difficult, though. The software also has the option to filter old dates to review old transactions, but for some reason it doesn't work properly and my system always crashes when I attempt. Interface could be more customer friendly and easy to read, but that's a minor issue.

My experience with Clover was pretty unpleasant. When initially signing up I asked for a specific list of fees. The rep told me what to expect, but left a lot out. Sticking with Square.

Pros

For a small business the concept here is good - an easy to use POS for little companies. It's well laid out and pretty easy to use.

Cons

Mystery fees that you get charged that the representatives are not up front about when you sign up for Clover. Read every word of the agreement very carefully and get everything in writing from the sales rep or you could stand to lose a lot of money!

Affordable Startup Cost, but You’ll Pay For it Later

Clover is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had I a retail setting. We have pushed clients to look at the Square, Shopify or LightSpeed point of sale systems in its place.

Pros

Not much to like about Clover. It gets businesses with its cheap entry pricing and variable processing rates sound good but in reality it will bleed you dry.

Cons

Everything about Clover is just terrible. It’s a clunky Android user experience, the “apps” are just annoying upsells for features that should be built into the point of sale, and the payment processing can be expensive if you get a lot of AMEX and Discover cards.

We used Clover to accept online donations and payments, run financial reports and update statistics on giving.

Pros

Clover is easy to set up and easy to use. It's very intuitive, runs reports for you and their customer service is wonderful.

Cons

Although they may have updated this recently, when we used Clover you could not run custom queries.

From Square to Clover

Pros

My company recently switched from using Square POS to Clover. Clover seems to have more in depth features and (this may be totally unrelated) but doesn't have to connect and reconnect to our wifi constantly throughout the day.

Cons

The only con I can think of is that it's not quite as streamlined as Square was. There are many features, but the interface just isn't quite as simple. It's not difficult to use though, at all.

Pros

Cons

On set up we included another location so we have to cross out the info for our other location from site #2. Outside of that makes our lives easier.

Clover is a great option for small businesses

Overall Clover has proved to be very easy to use and accessible for our mobile office.

Pros

I like that I am able to have multiple users be able to access the software from their smart phones allowing them to take payments anywhere. I also like that the chip reader provides our clients with an extra layer of security when making payments.

Cons

The start up costs are some what high for each device. We have lost one and had to re-purchase.

It’s ok, but not ideal

I recommend you to invest in clover if you can.

Pros

It’s very cheap and will allow small businesses to take card payments. I do recommend the model that you set on a table and I’ll tell you why.

Cons

Before switching to Clover we used Square. The problem with square is that every day customers thought that I’m stealing their credit card information and downloading it to my phone. Yes, people are stupid and it was annoying. Also if you plug in your headphones after unplugging square you will hear loud sounds of hell.

Simple and straightforward

Overall experience is good.. it does its job..can process payments anywhere. equipment is nice looking... and instructions for customers to input where to send receipt and when to remove card is clear.

Pros

the equipment is very sleek looking and makes the establishment feel more stylish and high tech. I like how there's an attachment to the phone in for payment processing anywhere.

Cons

There's really no cons that i see.. I think maybe an improvement would be a touchless payment option which it doesnt have yet. I don't see how it differentiate itself from clover though.. However, it would say that's a con.

Definitely the best & user-friendly payment processing platform

For my brick and mortar business, I will continue to use Square Payments Processing. The other option would be Clover but am not a fan. Despite higher transaction fee, I'll keep using Square for providing great service that is much needed by many business owners.

Pros

Square is definitely the best when it comes to accepting payments from customers at a brick and mortar business as well as online. It offers so many more than just payments. For example, appointments, gift cards, reconciliation, invoicing, etc.

Cons

The only con would be the transaction fee/rate - it's quite high. However, Square does offer lots of extra benefits for charging higher fees.

Square was great until it wasn't

Our overall experience with Square was good, until they stopped letting us use their service without any explanation or warning or notice. Once that happened, we switched to another service and will not go back.

Pros

Square is convenient to use and is good for small business who don't want to pay monthly fees for a merchant credit card processor. For a time, Square was the gold standard for quick and easy payments on the go. But their customer service is poor and they suddenly stopped letting my law practice use their service, without any warning or notice whatsoever, leaving us in the lurch.

Cons

Out of the blue, one day they cancelled my small business, without any warnings or notice. They simply decided that they would no longer let my type of law practice use their service. Similar small law offices were likewise cancelled overnight. We had to scramble to locate a new merchant credit card processor, which would allow us to take payments by phone and in-person, without having to pay a monthly subscription fee. We switched to Clover Go and have never looked back.
