I preferred this software over competitors like Insightly, but I am still looking for a CRM to love.
Some of the automated tasks. The seamless integration with GMAIL is incredible, I enjoyed being able to update records and deals right within gmail.
Pricier than their competitors. Entry level software platform, not as full featured as their parent company, salesforce.

We were using salesforce as a CRM system and we decided to replace it for insightly which is much more user friendly. We now use for our opportunity management process. However all the organisation is unhappy and looking to replace it.
The reports that we are able to generate
It is not user friendly, Only trained people are able to programme it.

We used this CRM for 2 years before we realized we had something too robust for a small startup business. Too expensive for the features we needed. We went with Insightly and saved thousands a year and got an easier to use platform.
Excellent for mid to large businesses in need of a robust platform for CRM.
Too expensive and robust for small businesses. There are plenty of other free or inexpensive platforms available that are easier to use.

Salesforce allows the customer to ease the creation and customization of widgets and components — and there is a very rich collection to use from, automate complex tasks that would be time-consuming and quite tedious otherwise, as well as to streamline the process of passing the feedback from customers to the support teams and, from there, to those in charge of implementation and design. Sometimes solutions might not be straightforward and easy to set up, but Salesforce comes with thousands of pieces of code tailored for solving most problems one could think of.
Since I only got to enjoy a demo and that was very close to perfection, many complain about the quality of the support provided by Salesforce to its customers, including those who pay large sums for premium support. Because there are over 10,000 components involved, getting started with Salesforce can be quite tricky and requires a lot of time. The price could be a problem too, especially for smaller companies. Some alternatives worth checking out include Zoho CRM, Freshales, Insightly, HubSpot CRM, and so on.

SFDC is probably great if you are, say, Coca-Cola, or IBM, or Nike or some other massive global brand. But if you're looking for CRM advice on GetApp, it's probably not the right choice for you. Why? Because it's just way too much, of everything, for anybody who isn't a Giant Subcommittee of an Even Larger Committee of an Absolutely Massive Enterprise. Too many features. Too much to configure. Too much going on in the UI. Too much money out the door every month to use it. Too many hoops to jump through to pay. ... and on and on. SFDC is really the only game in town for a few specific use cases that apply only to the largest of businesses. Best guess: if you're reading this, you'll do better with Base, or Nutshell, or Insightly instead.
- The original and standard - New hires will (sort of) already know how to use it
- Cutting-edge UI ... for 2002. - Basically infinite flexibility - One of the largest partner ecosystems in the world - New hires know HOW to use it, but the UX stinks so much that they WON'T

I've used various other tools like Insightly and well, this is by far my favorite. It is so easy to use, has an attractive interface, and doesn't have too many complicated features. I would definitely say yes if anyone asked if they should use this tool.
So Simple! Your child could figure out how to use this tool after playing with it for 30 seconds. I love the fact that I can tie in emails to particular projects or clients. This helps me keep a database all within one place.
The sales side of things could use some spicing up. I'm coming from using Salesforce (Not a fair comparison) but I'm used to a much deeper and more intuitive process for my sales flow.

Insightly is a great alternative to other software solutions and comes with just enough features and a great sales dashboard. If you are looking for a great sales management tool that is better than spreadsheets and way less expensive compared to salesforce then Insightly provides a great choice.
Some things are a bit tedious to do and not easy enough.

We used Insightly for many years as our primary CRM. It was a great, cheaper alternative to something like salesforce, and allowed us to capture and retain valuable client information for our sales team.
I would have liked a stronger duplicate checker that would prevent us from creating duplicate accounts.

After using many CRM systems from Salesforce, Zoho, Apptivo, Pipeline Deals, Pipedrive, Base CRM and more, Insightly is a 'breath of fresh air' (even though that is getting a bit stale lately - more on that shorty). Frankly, after looking at many of these systems, I was tempted to design and create my own system (I have been a software engineer for 30 years and own a software development firm as one...
Here are just a few pros: * Easy to use and learn * Integrated Light Weight Project Management * Fast Response * Great note taking * Easy task tracking * Great for sales cycles and customer service alike * Useful Integrations * Better User Interface than most (every tried Salesforce and couldn't find anything?)
A couple of Cons: * Service - The guys and gals at Insightly need to learn to listen and pass information 'up the management chain' * Task and Event Handling need improvement as reported by many clients * Need fully functional 2-way sync with Google Calendar * Need real workflow functionality instead of clunky Project Management (to their defense, lots of systems 'miss this one')

It's pretty decent. Has a few disconnects and odd ways to get things done but works fairly well. Sometimes its more about HOW to get our Sales team to use it to its full potential! lol...
I like that you can link as many organizations as necessary to a Contact.
I dont like the method of how to capture event related campaigns in relation to sales leads at events. But I am comparing it to my past experience with using Salesforce which had a campaign section to clearly give credit to it and house lists within a campaign e.g. a conference or tradeshow.

One of the best CRM/sales management tools on the market. Have been using it to track all of a small lawyer company's (30 users) contacts into one place. The card reader works just fine, but the deep integration with Google Apps is the best part. It's not a super-duper CRM like Salesforce, but it does all that is needed for a SMB and more.
- Integration with Google Apps for Work. - Basic project management capabilities (separate module).
- Little to do if you want to see the whole sales process and customize it accordingly (basic functions only).

I like the product, been using it for 3 years, but dislike the search interface and functionality and lack of phone support.
Cloud based so it’s available everywhere, Insightly nicely tracks your sales efforts. Use the google chrome extension or better yet - bcc - your Insightly internal email and all of your correspondence send up in the system creating new contacts and organizations automatically. Pretty slick. Go back in and add notes and schedule follow up tasks.
Searching is confusing. If I search for a phone number to see if I have already contacted this person and the phone. Number is not found, a list of all contacts is returned instead is a not found message. Seems that whenever our team tries to see if that contact is in our database already we don’t get acccurate results. Maybe it’s us but this is 3 people that are relatively intelligent and all having the same frustration. I looked for a support number to speak with someone to see what we are doing wrong - doesnt exist.

Overall, Insightly solved my simple problems and provided a solution to our financial services firm so we could track our leads/projects until completion.
I previously used a version of Salesforce for small companies called Salesforce IQ. It didn't link contacts to leads, projects and companies well. It synced too much information from email and most of it wasn't relevant. Insightly solved all of these problems and made it easy to connect the dots between a person, lead, project, etc.
The software graphics were somewhat childish initially, but they have updated the graphics over time. It would be great if the software provided analysis / charts on some of the data that is stored there without forcing the user to do it themselves manually in excel.
Thanks so much for your kind note, Kelsey. At Insightly we work hard to make sure our customers have a great experience with our platform and are able to build lasting relationships with their own customers. Your feedback means a world to us and inspires us to keep up the good work. Cheers, the Insightly team

I run a small consulting firm in Washington, DC that handles general management, communications and event services for nonprofit clients. I use every CRM imaginable for my clients including Salesforce, Abila, etc. but when looking for a CRM for my own small business, Insightly has it covered. It's a month to month service that integrates with both QuickBooks and MailChimp - two of my most used apps - and allows me the space to cultivate a small business customer list with all the convenience of more expensive and comprehensive tools.
No long term commitment or contract Lots of useful APIs Very intuitive for even novice users Offers project tracking Reports available for each module
Might be helpful to have a better idea of their partners and what APIs are available, like how Salesforce has its own app section.

As a Sales Manager, I am able to keep track of our sales by customer, add notes regarding customer contact and upload important customer documents.
I like that I can keep separate lists of customers and leads. It's great to be able to add "tags" for reporting purposes. Since our customers are distributors, it great to be able to add our "end users" and link them to our customers.
It should be easier to add contacts directly to companies instead of having to add them separately and then link them together. That has been very cumbersome and time consuming for me. Also, you have to pay extra for the good reporting features which is also a bummer.

This software is web-based, easy to use and inexpensive. Insightly offers a simple way to keep track of customer details and notes. Also good to use as a database for easy search.

The search function is pretty limited. Also it does not scan for duplicates or similar leads that are duplicates
I work in sales and we are constantly qualifying leads, setting appointments, and then moving them along in the sales process. I like that it has a mobile app and it gets the job done.
I can't stand that you cannot mass delete the #tags feature.

My company switched from Salesforce to Insightly due to Salesforce's high-pressured sales people and lack of being customer-focused. Insightly is a lot better at this and really tries to develop a connection with their clients. For the most part, Insightly has most of what you would expect out of a CRM. As a developer though, I often get ask to add functionality into Insightly and a lot of times there are things that simply can't be done due to system limitations.
What I like most about Insightly is its simplicity. It's rather easy to get up and going with it. It's also easy to train new users on the system.
I find that Insightly hasn't fully developed their developer-centric features. I do have to say though that they are always working on improving in this area, but coming from a Salesforce background I find that there is quite a bit lacking. In Insightly's defense, they simply haven't been around long enough or had enough time to build up to the technical capabilities that something like Salesforce has.

I followed up with the sales specialist three times before she actually acknowledged that we were working together. The last thing that I heard is that wh was going to get back with me. It has been three weeks and I have sent two additional emails without any response...very poor customer service:-(.
It seems like it would be a good platform for lead generation...I just wished that someone from their team would have contacted me.
I cannot overstate how important customer service is...I still have not heard back from the sales specialist who worked with me.

It's a good tool for the sales and marketing team to use when collaborating on projects. The sales team can use Insightly to keep a track of all the sales activities and see where a prospective client is placed on the sales cycle. The marketing team can use Insightly to update more information on prospective clients after carrying out a series of marketing activities. It is a great project management tool.
- Ease of use - Flexible pricing options
- Some of the features are a bit confusing to use - contacts versus leads

We use Insightly to manage all of our sales leads & process.
Insightly is a fairly comprehensive CRM tool - it integrates neatly with Outlook allowing us to tie email comms to sales follow up quite seamlessly.
Whilst there is an extensive reporting functionality available - the basic levels of reports do not generate enough information so we have had to build custom reports to suit our business needs.

Great for tracking and progressing sales opportunities and general business development
The option to create custom fields was a real hook for our business as we require a great deal of specific data and capture it in specific ways. The pipeline feature for defining custom workflows is a great feature which allows us to carve out our own procedure and modus operandi.
The UI feels a little outdated at times. The important date reminder feature is not as user-friendly or functional as hoped. We really require projects/workflows to auto generate on a defined schedule and struggled to make the best use of this software without addressing that need.

Email transparency, Google Mail/Apps integration, easy project management, great data structure (people, accounts, opportunities, etc), and a very non-invasive interface have had an incredible impact on our business. The constant updates and new features have further improved our capabilities over time. Also, the pricing is amazing.
Reporting is currently focused primarily on the sales/opportunity side of the product, with the project management functionality having minimal reporting capabilities (for now).

NEVER have I been satisfied and it is the clunkiest, most user-unfriendly, counter-intuitive POS I have ever dealt with.
Cloud-based - I liked the ability to use on my handheld.
So.Many.Bugs. For example, I just added another user. They billed me immediately with absolutely no explanation of review of costs or anything (it would be nice to have a "Proceed" button. They are absolute jerks. And then, I try to add that used and NOWHERE to be found is "System Setting: to add a new user. Help gave me the answer but it doesn't exist in the actual program. Its a nightmare. Tried twice to ask for support via their email support system - NADA. Called, and got "please use email" and then got hung up on. Needless to say, we're looking.
