Physician

I entered into a five-year agreement at approximately $800+ per user per month for a two-provider setup. When my practice transitioned to a single provider, I was unable to reduce the number of users, despite multiple discussions with their team.

The contract is highly restrictive, there is little to no ability to downgrade, and even in the setting of major practice changes, such as selling a practice, the financial obligations remain in place.

Admin

The platform is user-friendly and adaptable to our practice’s needs, which makes a noticeable difference in productivity. While there are occasional slowdowns and some processes could be more streamlined, the overall functionality and benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

Additionally, some tasks require multiple steps to complete, which can be slightly time-consuming. While the customization features are a great benefit, setting them up initially can take extra time and effort.

Overall, between the high cost, limited flexibility, and operational inefficiencies, I would advise practices especially smaller or independent groups to carefully review contract terms and consider alternative EHR options.

Dermatologist

Allows me to see a reasonably high volume of patients without a dedicated scribe.  

In contrast, lower-cost systems such as Practice Fusion often have these features built in from the start.

Modernizing Medicine lacks some basic functionality that is standard in lower-cost EHRs.

Medical Receptionist

I do wish the patient portal could be more useful for patients & staff, regarding sending patients information, completing forms, & contacting medical staff.

As far as body map, the pretibial area is so large and hard to document multiple biopsy sites in this area and have them documented with different names for clarification on path.

Business Office Manager

We first puchased only the EHR portion of ModMed and was very pleased, but, as soon as they come out with the Practice Management system, it has made our entire practice so much more efficient and eliminated so many tasks that were being transferred from person to person and place to place.

The new update has forced us to enter in multiple duplicate meds and allergies which causes a delay in entering charts.

It is a very HIPAA compliance, electronic medical record for ophthalmology patient management medical records.

Overall modmed has been a very positive experience as a dermatologist—EMA thinks like a dermatologist in establishing DDX and formulating treatment plans

ModMed has the ability to load the payer fee schedules and run variance reports.  

Staff MD

Code tab to review charts is helpful, unless you want to review more than 1 day.

You can't change which fields are "sticky" and some were made un-sticky (such as save fax to patient's chart) which is very inconvenient.

Physician Assistant

I do wish templates were an option with autopopulated exam findings and prescriptions based on diagnosis template.

Modmed EMA allows me to work more efficiently and see more patients and spend less time documenting.

Getting better all the time - has been a speciality specific investment that helps optimize coding and billing integration with the clinical note

Would help if this could be accessed on pt portal or if we could do away in general with the MIPS due to the same questions being asked 3 different times).

Frustration when adding height and weight on a pediatric patient when sending a prescription and is unable to be saved for the an additional prescription

The system has a very easy flow and I like the fact that you can pre-populate what you would like in charge, especially for like full body skin examinations and then just edit appropriately

sometimes I task the wrong item or I have to double check myself because I click the fax and think it's the correct one, but its not, the only way of knowing is by looking at the fax #

The preset settings on how it would automatically attach my provider to a different office location.

some thing are not customizable and sometimes the updates for new medications talk longer to get into the system.

Forgetting to update a digit in 1 code in 2024 resulting in claims rejected that need now be resubmitted

Patient Access Team

Opening another tab refreshes the existing tab and returns to home for both the existing and new tabs.

Ophthalmologist

Customer service is non-existent. As I mentioned above the software crashes multiple times per month and you are unable to see anything about the patient (last exam, reason for visit, previous appointments, diagnostic imaging). If you try and call or email you get directed to either an answering service that does not return calls or an email chain that says someone will be in contact soon.

You can see exactly how much each CPT code charges, and it is easy to run financial reports and sort by many fields.
