KMI LMS overview

What is KMI LMS?

KMI LMS is a web-based learning management system aimed at businesses in the healthcare, medical product, manufacturing, distribution, oil and gas, media and communication, and finance industries. The white label solution allows users to customize the branding of the LMS and any portal sites to their own needs.

KMI LMS supports multiple different course types, including simple online courses, SCORM and AICC-compliant courses, and live events (single sessions, multi-location, multi-session conferences, web conferences, and other online events), with the ability to create course compilations, such as learning series based on course themes or certification-track course series. Assessments and surveys can be attached to courses, or offered separately but still tracked alongside conventional courses.

With KMI LMS, learners can be allowed to self-enrol via an access key, or added individually by users, and learner details can also be imported in bulk from spreadsheets. Any enrollments for courses requiring physical materials, such as books or discs, automatically generate orders for these items. Users can also set up administrator approvals for self-registrations to prevent courses becoming oversubscribed, and organize learners into groups, based on any criteria, to enable the provision of different site resources or course portfolios to different groups.

KMI LMS’s dashboard gives users a single-page overview of multiple learning metrics, with adjustable parameters including date range, allowing users to benchmark learners’ activity and progress. Over 30 standard learner activity reports are also included, and users can design their own reports with options to add data fields and filters, for detailed analysis of learner metrics.

The Academy-style LMS is a technological marvel

I was able to demo KMI's LMS in an Academy-style format where a library of courses can be made available to clients in their own unique portal. With this technology, you have the ability to parcel up your LMS real estate in just a few clicks and quickly become your own landlord of eLearning courses. Accenture Academy has been using this format for several years, and they have grown their library into a virtual cash machine. The Global Admin portal is very simple to use with a very intuitive workflow similar to Windows Explorer with checkbox setup options. Imagine creating a folder, setting permissions, and linking to a pre-made document library, and you've just set up a new client. The real power comes from the ability for each client to control the admin functions inherent to an LMS like registering students, assigning training paths, and running reports. The staff at KMI is very approachable right up to the CEO level. Their communication is very high-touch like a startup, but their knowledge and level of technology indicates a seasoned company. I've seen the term "technologically forward" used to describe KMI, and I couldn't agree more. It's one thing for LMS companies to say they understand the eLearning industry, but the true measurement of forward thinkers are the ones that embrace HTML5 and Tin Can API (xAPI) technology. KMI blends Flash and HTML5 together like peanut butter and jelly... or do you prefer lamb and tuna fish? In fact, what caught my eye was their series of videos explaining SCORM and Tin Can API in a Flash animation format. KMI understands the concept of capturing the students' attention with humor, simulations, and animations. I feel that all of these concepts are missing from our industry, and it's refreshing to see somebody doing it right. To finish up with the Academy LMS review, I specifically like the fact that every time I asked if a function could be accomplished, a new set of checkboxes magically appeared the next day in the demo site to activate that feature. Go ahead. Try to stump them. I also like the fact that once the LMS has been set up, I'm given the keys to the kingdom. The Global Admin interface gives me the ability to do everything from one place. Each admin screen is purposeful and powerful. KMI's Academy technology is worth checking out if you want to make money with your LMS instead of just paying money for the service. Or you could just stay with your old LMS. Good luck with that.

KMI LMS saved my business from disaster!

We had the unfortunate experience of working with the worst LMS in the world for the last couple of years and their LMS was so bad that it literally almost put us out of business. Due to our custom feature requirements, we couldn't just jump to another LMS to try and correct all the problems. Anyone who has ever looked around for a new LMS knows just what a herculean task that can be with so many different LMS providers out in the world these days. We looked at dozens and dozens of LMS providers over the course of many months and none of them were able to meet our needs. We didn't want just another big out-of-the-box LMS that we'd have to struggle with to try and make it fit our specific needs. Every LMS provider we looked at ran for the hills when we started spelling out our custom requirements. All except for one that is! We had the good fortune to cross paths with KMI LMS. And thank God we did! They were the ONLY LMS provider out of dozens that were willing to take on our custom LMS project. Not only was KMI the only LMS that entertained the development of our custom features, they actually were excited by the project and took it to a level that greatly exceeded our expectations. Throughout the entire process of working with everyone at KMI, we were always impressed. In the design phase of the project the KMI team treated our project as if it were their own business. Often times we'd spell out a particular feature and they'd come back with suggestions that we hadn't even considered to make it better in some way. And in the end we ended up with a website/LMS that blew us away! Not only is it visually stunning, but it's rock solid in it's performance and dependability - things we weren't used to after having worked with our previous LMS. If you're in the market for a new LMS, I can't recommend KMI LMS highly enough. Check with them and see what they have to offer. And while you're there, ask them to take a look at the UBTS website. You'll be jealous when you see it! This is the one LMS that not only delivers on what it promises, but exceeds all expectations! They deliver on time and within budget KMI's LMS has outstanding functionally and can be tailored to meet individual user needs . I have user their LMS to deliver training to tens of thousands of users worldwide. KMI's Lms is clearly one of the leading products in the industry. KMI's customer service has always been outstanding, they are a very customer centric organization. We started out with a lot of requirement for the LMS for our client. Greg Wasylik was great to work wtih and helped us define and clarify how the KMI LMS could meet our requirements. The LMS has consistently worked and met our needs for the last 3 years. We continued to add more requirements and each has been met on time and with little or no additional changes. Although we found ourselves on our own in the beginning when we had to use the LMS, we quickly were able to find our way around the product and use it. It does allow us a lot of flexibility and allows us to make many of our own updates...which we prefer. We have a high volume client who use the LMS heavily from December through March and we've never once had downtime on the system. We are currently working with Paul Shannon and appreciate his quick response. We love this LMS!!!
