Astah SysML overview
What is Astah SysML?
Astah SysML is a desktop SysML modeling tool for model-based systems engineering (MBSE), developed by Change Vision, Inc.
Diagrams: SysML v1 block definition, internal block, parametric, requirement, and state machine diagrams, plus requirement tables and mind maps. Mind map topics can be converted into SysML model elements.
Requirements: requirement diagrams with derive, satisfy, and test case relationships for traceability. Requirement tables can be imported from and exported to Microsoft Excel.
AI: AI Chat Copilot and a local MCP server. Both require your own API key from a supported AI service (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or an OpenAI-compatible endpoint).
Integrations and extensions: free plug-ins for Miro, Redmine, OpenAPI import, HTML export, dependency matrices, rule-based legends, and Groovy-based model validation. A Java API and plug-in SDK are available.
Platform and security: runs on Windows and macOS. Models are saved as local files, so no cloud storage is required.
Scope: supports SysML v1 and does not include simulation. For SysML v2, the separate SysMLv2 Editor is included with the license.
Licensing: annual and annual floating licenses. A 20-day free trial is available.
