Cons
  • The most difficult thing about this software is the learning curve that comes with it. When I first started to use the product, I found the layout and lack of guidance to be very frustrating.Caylin T.Read the full review
  • There is no profound structure possible in the shapes and diagrams. For instance, I am able to define a collapsed subprocess, but I am not able to drill down to the details of that subprocess.Harry M.Read the full review

Great diagramming software for making clear and understandable material for presentations

Used monthly for 2+ years

Review Source: Capterra

It helps me to do some/constant corrections and upgrades on my presentations and diagrams. Also, it helps me to be creative in my free time (to do some design on computer and not on paper).

Pros
It is easy to use for beginners as interface is very similar to an office software. There are plenty of templates and options for everyone needs. Symbols are very similar to real life things so there aren't any misunderstanding.

Cons
There aren't any cons except price because there are many similar free or cheaper applications that are very similar to Edraw Max

In one of my business classes, we used this program to create professional quality flow charts and graphs.

Pros
Creating professional grade designs for flow charts, graphs, etc was very easy with this program as the program has tons of functionality and the interface is very easy on the eye.

Cons
I didn't have to pay for this, so for me, the pricing would be steep. For a business, however, this is very affordable and worth it.

Edraw is a good alternative to Visio

Used monthly for 1-2 years
Reviewed 2017-10-11
Review Source: Capterra

Pros
It was relatively cheap. It seems to offer the majority of features that would be found in Visio. It has a lot of different export options as you would expect. It can be put on desktop computer or a network computer and it can be used in a server environment. I like the different license models it allowed us to demo the software with low overhead then we were able to scale up to the server version. For what it is this pretty good software imho. I would definitely recommend it to a friend if I had to do it all over again I would still choose eDraw. Did I mention this is a Visio substitute that is a cheap alternative yet?

Cons
It isn't Visio so there are some technical limitations but none so great that I need to upgrade to Visio.

Quite a positive experience, especially the improvements made from previous versions. Very pleased. Price is right at $199.00 for perpetual license for 2 computers. Much better deal than Smartdraw and Visio.

Pros
Breathtaking array of stencils, templates, objects and command of the workspace. Much imporved from previous versions that I've used.

Cons
Maybe a nit, but when trying to move text box that is embedded within a, say, rectangle or line is not straightforward or intuitive; improvement here is warranted. Other than that, I've experienced few negative issues with this new version. As I create more and more equipment system block diagrams and light electrical schematics, I will opine further.

Excellent tool for system line drawings

Used weekly for less than 6 months
Reviewed 2019-04-15
Review Source: Capterra

We now use eDraw exclusively to produce technical AV system line drawings that have been extremely helpful in training others and helping build a troubleshooting team.

Pros
This is an affordable design software that is especially helpful for creating line drawings of various types of technical systems. It is among the most cost effective and is fairly widely accepted. It offers more than just line drawings, such as organizational structure charts...but it excels at line drawings.

Cons
One of the more challenging things that took me a while to figure out was how to manipulate line paths exactly how I wanted them to appear once they have made their end-to-end connections. It wasn't a straight-forward method but I eventually figured it out.

Pros
If you are a teacher and like to integrate IT into your work, then Edraw Max is simply the best of friends. There are many templates to help you out, all highly customizable. In a couple of minutes you can have the desired mind map, diagram, presentation, etc. And this is due to the loads of basic shapes, icons, symbols, clip art, backgrounds, or text boxes that you can drag and drop. What is also worth mentioning is that Edraw is easy to use and very intuitive! The software interface features a sober Microsoft's ribbon bar, which obviously brings familiarity, while the library objects are nice and colorful. And, not in the least, your work can be exported to various formats (pdf, jpeg, png, word, excel, etc.).

Cons
I haven't found any weaknesses so far. The price may seem a bit high but it's anyway much more acceptable than the one asked by famous competitors.

Affordable and Flexible - I use EDM weekly for "visioneering" my projects

Used weekly for 2+ years
Reviewed 2019-12-18
Review Source: Capterra

I've used EDM for years - probably 5-7 years - as my default "diagramming" software for workflows, process diagrams, wireframes, UX planning, UI prototyping, etc. I have the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite, access to Visual Studio, and a pro-subscription to UXPin. But 90% of the time, I turn to EDM over any of those other packages for information diagramming. It's just a really good piece of "visioneering" software.

Pros
What I like MOST about EDM is the price and flexibility of use. I can quickly and easily produce just about any "visualization" I need for software development, product management, documentation, marketing support, etc. Having all the infographic templates as starters is really impressive and helpful, but for my particular purposes, I create original diagrams most of the time.

Cons
What I like LEAST about EDM is the fact that the user interface is about 10% UN-aligned with standard UI/UX interaction by American users. (maybe it's standard for other countries?) This means you'll be bopping along and attempt a common keyboard-shortcut or key-click combination out of habit, and it will NOT do what you expect. In fact it will do something very different than what you expect, or nothing at all. That's frustrating and makes the process of creation feel clunky each time it happens.

Cons

Pros
EdrawMax makes it possible to create unique graphics very easily. The wide variety of items, drawings, and templates already provided with the software makes your jobs easier. With a few simple taps, you can connect various drawings, ideas, objects. The good thing about software is its simplicity! Just select the item and connect it. The colour schemes, in particular, helps you too much!

Cons
There are various ways to improve the product. In particular, the templates could be improved and alignment (I mean alignment of objects with each other) could be simplified.

For many years I want to buy a lifetime license from Edraw Max, I finally did it in 2017 and I am very happy to have done it, I use it on a PC and Mac, it is fantastic, it helps me unlock my creativity when ideas do not arise easily. It is impressive how much it facilitates my work as a manufacturing plant advisor, it is one of the few tools that add value from the first moment. I use it a lot in mind maps, floor drawings, business presentations and value chain analysis.

Pros
- Very good graphic design, nice and enthusiastic. - Many templates for immediate use or as a reference to create new ones. - Specific templates by type of company or industry.

Cons
- In Windows after 20 minutes or more, the figures freeze and I must move the mouse to release them, traces or tracks remain. - The startup takes longer than other applications for the same purpose. - The quality when exporating to pdf or photography does not finish convincing me.
