My overall experience with Format has been AMAZING. I have tried using Wix, Adobe Portfolio and SquareSpace for my online portfolio/website, but Format has been the software I Love the Most.

CUSTOMER SERVICE is top notch, and many of them are artists themselves. I love those folks, they’re all very friendly and helpful.

I love that Format lets you choose different subscriptions plans with different features and additions. I also love that format automatically saves your portfolio as you edit it.

Lack of personal customisation options. I have also found some flaws in the system which cause crashes ocassionally.

GORGEOUS, BEAUTIFUL, and CREATIVE themes made for artists. The themes feel like you walked into a web site gallery.

The clean templates that look very professional and integration with lightroom and pay pal. Customer service is amazing too.

One thing that I do not like as well is its lack of showing analytics. If I am not mistaken, you need to pay a bit extra to see those where as with other providers they offer that standard.

The possibility to change site style so rapidly  and yearly subscription as well is a great opportunity to review your work.

I can’t wait to be completely switched over from my current website provider. My favorite thing about this service is the ability to easily manipulate my website from the app.

One thing I dislike about Format is that you cannot pay for a 6 month plan. Its either monthly or yearly.

i'm still working on my site and and it wont be fully ready for another few weeks, but i really am enjoying the process of making it and its been fun using format. its all new to me making a website and the staff/ team have been so helpful. it been great!

Easy to make a simple website

I’ve tried seemingly every common website building company out there - I’m so happy with Format after two years that I’m constantly raving about it to my photographer friends. It negates any need for separate cloud storage, client proofing software, and website/portfolio design products. 

Format is a game changer!

Format served me well and provided very good customer service. I used it happily for a small number of years albeit at a fairly simple level. It allowed me to share galleries that provided a reasonable user experience for my clients and to promote my business with an attractive website.

A great product (though I found something better)

I started building websites in 1995, cut and paste using Windows notepad.  I worked my way up through HTML, WYSWYG, Dreamweaver, the lot.  I finally grew tired of the maintenance, just wanting to do what I do best... photography.  Format offered the elegance and simplicity I was looking for after reviewing many different options (Squarespace, Wix, many others).  Oddly enough, I am from Toronto, but am now based in Nairobi, Kenya, but wasn't aware Format was in my former hometown around the corner from where I lived.  Canadian expertise.

The Format system allowed me to finally concentrate on images, not site maintenance.

The overall experience using Format.com is incredible. From A-Z they have every aspect covered!

                                                       Before I settled on format, I looked at a few other options. The only one that I really tried in earnest was Squarespace, which came highly recommended, very beautiful, it was just a little bit outside my price point. And I really liked the ease of use of Format, compared to Squarespace, and the fact that it came in within my budget.
                                                       I chose format because it provided just what I needed at the time. I was looking for something fairly simple, so I came in at a level which allowed me to have the galleries that I needed, just an attractive web presence, and something that was fairly easy to use. I like being able to get in and get started fairly quickly, without too much mucking around. I did also really like the fact that I had the option for HTML customization, so that I could come in, and where I wanted to, I could tweak and update and add a bit more functionality to the galleries or to the pages that I was offering to my clients. That was a really appealing at functionality to me, of Format. And again, it came in at a good price point for me.
                                                       Getting started with Format was actually quite painless. There's always obviously a bit of time you have to invest when you go into a platform, but Format made it pretty easy to get started, to get going, to get things up and running. And their customer service, I didn't use the customer service directly many times, but when I did, they were really very responsive and very helpful. And I found that, compared to where I had used Squarespace beforehand, I found myself getting a bit lost in that environment. Format, I didn't have that problem.
                                                       For anyone who is thinking about using Format, I would definitely say they're worth a look. There's obviously a lot of products to consider when you're making a decision like this, but Format's definitely one I would put in the list of things to consider. Jump In, they offer a trial, so you can come in and have a look for free, to see what you like, and to see if it works for you. I guess that would be my recommendation. Just try it. It's definitely worth having a look. They've got some really nice templates, they're fairly easy to use, and their customer service is very good.

Lydia B.:                                              I'm Lydia. I'm a small business owner and photographer, and I give Format four out of five.
                                                       I switched over to Format from Squarespace, and there weren't many other considerations because it was suggested to me by other groups that I'm a member of. But GoDaddy was one that I had considered. Other than that, I found Format to be exactly what I needed.
                                                       I chose Format not only for the affordability, but also because it was geared towards photographers. And since I'm on the go all the time, I enjoyed the fact that it has a mobile app that allows you to control your website from your phone.
                                                       Other than having to transfer my domain and a few bumps in that road, integrating Format into my business was fairly simple and easy which is what I need.
                                                       I highly recommend Format to anyone looking to integrate a creative website into their business. I have enjoyed it, and it was very simple to get started.
