Our commitment
Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

pganalyze overview
What is pganalyze?
Specializing in PostgreSQL database monitoring and optimization, pganalyze provides you with automatic insights into Postgres query plans, helps improve Postgres query performance with its Advisors, and lets you perform drill-down analysis into queries. You can observe per-query statistics and identify trends. All of this is possible in our single platform that integrates with both self-managed Postgres servers as well as Database-as-a-service providers like Amazon RDS.
Today, hundreds of customers with teams ranging from small to thousands of engineers are using pganalyze in the cloud or on-premise.
Key benefits of using pganalyze
See detailed statistics on a per-query basis and know what to focus your efforts on. Identify slowdowns for specific queries over time (e.g. due to a different query plan being chosen), I/O vs CPU time for each query, or buffer cache hit ratio for each query.
Catch slow queries before they become big problems:
Benefit from insights into your query performance history to detect slow queries. pganalyze lets you sort all queries on your database by different characteristics, such as “% of all runtime”, “average runtime”, or “calls per minute”.
Comparison Over Time & Analyze Trends:
Often times a performance issue you are investigating has occurred in the past, instead of happening at this very moment. pganalyze allows easy access to historic data, and provides the tools that help with optimizing and performance tuning of your Postgres databases, including drill-down analysis.
Config Tuning Recommendations:
Set up automated checks that analyze your Postgres configuration and suggest optimizations. pganalyze also detects per-table configuration, for example for table-specific autovacuum settings.
Postgres Index Recommendations:
The pganalyze Index Advisor recommends the best index that covers a specific query and teaches you how to index your Postgres database. You can weigh the decision whether you want to rewrite a query to use your existing indexes, or whether you want to create the index recommended by us.
pganalyze Log Insights:
PostgreSQL logs often contain critical details about whats going on in your database. pganalyze Log Insights automatically extracts the logs into structured data, and filters any sensitive information.
auto_explain Integration:
Often times the most important part of debugging a query performance problem is the execution plan. Using pganalyze Log Insights you can automatically extract the output for the auto_explain extension that comes bundled with Postgres.
Postgres Vacuum Monitoring:
There are multiple sources of getting vacuum information in Postgres. The logs contain important information about how efficient a vacuum has run, and whether there are any tuples it could not clean up. pganalyze Log Insights automatically combines this information with the statistics data, and presents it in one unified interface.
PII Filtering:
Postgres logging can produce a variety of information, and often this contains details of the query that has run, or the information that is being inserted into the database. Due to pganalyze Log Insights having over 100 log filters for known Postgres log events, we are able to distinguish the log message itself from any sensitive information that might be contained, and can filter out such PII before it gets stored.
Postgres EXPLAIN plans:
pganalyze automatically collects your EXPLAIN plans with auto_explain, provides beautiful visualizations and gives meaningful insights into your Postgres Queries. View EXPLAIN plans in a convenient tree view. For each node, we have specific information highlighted, that shows what’s most important for that plan. We also make sure to highlight facts you might otherwise miss, such as how often each node was repeated due to a Nested Loop.
EXPLAIN plan insights:
Query plans provide a lot of detail. It can be challenging to recognize which information is most important. Quickly see built-in analysis and plan insights based on query plan information, as well as other information from your database (e.g. sorts spilling to disk, sequential scans that are inefficient, or statistics being out of date).
Option to run On-Premise:
If you choose to run pganalyze on-premise it will run in a Docker container behind your own firewall, on your own servers. No data will be sent outside your systems so you can always keep control of your data.
Encrypted Log Monitoring:
Store logs safely on local servers or Amazon S3. Stop leaving unencrypted log files with PII on a server or development machine.
