What is Tyk?
Tyk is an API management platform designed to help businesses in finance, healthcare, banking, and other sectors develop and deploy application program interfaces (APIs). It provides an API gateway, which enables organizations to manage API transactions or calls, expose REST endpoints, compose data sources into GraphQL, and monitor pre-determined API quotas.
Application developers can use the integrated developer portal to manage their application programming interface key and view personal usage analytics. Features of Tyk include role-based access control, workflow management, automated notifications, HIPAA compliance review, reporting, request throttling, API sharding, and more. The application also lets administrators split APIs across clusters and data centers and publish API documentation on the portal using Swagger or API Blueprint.
The centralized dashboard allows organizations to create a universal data graph (UDG) to combine multiple APIs into a single universal interface. With Tyk’s quotas and rate limiting module, administrators can control REST and GraphQL APIs, set up a rate limit, and automatically renew request quotas.
