Pros
With great support to do it yourself. I highly recommend this product because of the great sound quality.
One of the best free recording software. It has a nice user-friendly interface, which makes it easy to use even for people who have never edited before.
With everything going on right now, everyone is trying to save money and this program works well and adds value to my recordings. I use it personally and love that it is always improving.
Cons
In the case of separation, more of a single track enclosed recording ware, where all the unwanted background noises are pre-eliminated or rather a sound aggregate for the video guy.
The UI in Audacity is unattractive, and may seem complicated to beginners. Audacity is not the best choice for recording music, due to its inability to record at most two tracks.
It's limited compared to a DAW and we can't change audio on a video.

Pro Tool with out the cost

Reviewed a year ago

Overall I have been very satisfied and continue to use the program both on windows and apple platforms.

Pros

Audacity is a free open source pro tool which provides all of the functionality that is present in a paid pro tool. The user friendly gui and the availability of audio effects and functions make Audacity the best tool for audio manipulation and editing.

Cons

The learning curve to learn the basics are a bit steep. The tool could use some of the modern day ux design but for all its limitations, the tool does its job very well which is editing audio.

Deserves way more recognition!

Reviewed a year ago

Audacity is one of the most career-spanning software available. It's used by many professional studios, why wouldn't they? It does exactly what it advertises at a more than fair price.Wether I scratch some ideas in Ableton Live or multitrack in Reaper, I always keep Audacity nearby and opened ready to make quick edits and export them back into DAW. I also use it to record very long audio clips, edit them using the waveform view and tadah! Work done.

Pros

Audacity is the Swiss knife of audio editing. It has anything and everything you could need to chop, cut, copy, stutter or effect audio quickly and easily. It needs no manual (it has one anyway) since it's very intuitive and even a hobbyist will find some way to use it in a matter of minutes. It even supports VSTs, so bring your virtual effects library and enjoy!

Cons

There's nothing I would like Audacity to do that it doesn't right now. It's not meant to mix, multitrack or anything like that (DAWs exists for a reason) it's just good at what it does. Maybe the GUI could be more modern? But who does not like a dose of vintage!

Reviewed 3 years ago

the software allowed me to make my first sounds which still sound great today. I really enjoyed using it

Pros

the fact of being free to start in music there is no excuse not to make music. it's just exciting

Cons

the interface should be reworked, it looks like old software from the 98s and to improve the effects in order to bring something new

Good basic audio editor

Reviewed 4 months ago
Pros

Audacity has been reliable for me and and is well laid out. I like the way that It comes with a range of built in effects including noise reduction, auto ducking, EQ filters etc.

Cons

Given that some people want to use audio editors for mastering it would be good if they have a decent loudness maximizer (something like Waves L1). I also think the logo could do with being refreshed it looks like it was designed in 1990.
