Pros

We love that is is really use to use, to manage the products and check the orders. It is very user friendly, which is really helpful when you have a large team.
I love how easy it is to check out. I love there is a card swiping device too so payments are flawlessly done.
Shopify is a popular tool with great support that makes it easy to get started an online e-commerce business. It has also great integration across different platforms like Laptops/PCs and smartphones.

Pros

The best part for me is that woocommerce is free providing an excellent e-commerce environment for fresh users containing a variety of different features.
I can only recommend WooCommerce as the simplest and the best solution that saves you thousands of dollars in development.
All in all, it is the single best shopping solution for Wordpress. I used it on a few websites that I made and I loved it mainly because it was very easy and quick to set up.

Cons

Was not very much support on the stubborn aps that refuse to leave when you delete them.
Sometimes on the app I have trouble tracking my package either error from the sending company or from the something on my end in not understanding the app to it's fullest.
Bad practice, leaves a bad taste in the mouth. No other company does that.

Cons

However, I can see if folks are not inclined to be DIY about this they might be annoyed with the lack of documentation WITHIN Wordpress.
My overall experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing.
A bit limited in functionality and if you need additional plugins it can end up being quite costly and complex to mantain updates.

Migrated from Woocommerce to Shopify

Overall has been pleasant, we migrated over from Woocommerce and no longer have problems with app integrations and version compatibility issues, which was the dealbreaker.

Pros

Very streamlined backend integrated with all apps, where I don't have to worry about app compatibility unlike with WooCommerce

Cons

More expensive and slightly less customizable than Woocommerce

Take the work out of selling online

Reviewed 5 years ago

If you're not a tech/web geek, this is the way to go. You list and item and they pretty much handle the technology side of it. A great way to sell online, just make sure you have the volume to cover their fees. Not a great option if you only do a few sales a month.

Pros

It just works. It's simple to have an online store without fighting with SSL certs and payment processors. I spent hours and hours getting woocommerce working, maintenance, etc. Shopify does the work for you so you can focus on selling.

Cons

Fees are high compared to woocommerce or similar but worth it.

Inexpensive Ecommerce Platform

Reviewed 2 years ago

Overall Shopify is a nice Ecommerce platform that is more affordable than Woocommerce.

Pros

I like the pricing tiers, where I can upgrade as my business grows, they have a lot of blog posts to help businesses. I like their tutorials to help the user use Shopify, it isn’t hard to understand and do yourself. You can also integrate a lot of third party apps. I also like that they have an app I can use on other devices, if I don't want to be on my computer.

Cons

I think the dashboard could be better and easier to use, it could use more free templates to customize. Some third party apps aren't that great.

Shopify, Your Newbie Friendly Online Store Builder!

Shopify is the newbie-friendly version of Woocommerce. If you don't have the time setting up a website, just use Shopify!

Pros

Shopify is the software I usually recommend if my friends ask me on how to build an online store. Since it's easy to use, it's pretty self-explanatory for newbies.

Cons

I would recommend shopify for any small business wanting to quickly set up an online store.

Pros

Easy to set-up a store and get to selling quickly!! So much easier than adding WooCommerce to Wordpress site.

Was hard for my accounting person to track sales in store (outside of shopify) and online... but that was more of an organization issue.

Good commerce option

Reviewed 4 years ago

Generally useful - does what it needs to. It's got great flexibility - perfect for small business owners, but can't imagine this scaling to large multi-location companies

Pros

It's got basic commerce functionalities - with apps, it can be as robust as Wordpress/woocommerce with a cleaner and more organized interface

Cons

I don't like how to add functionalities, I need to buy third party apps. Wish everything was in one platform, but I guess it's like Wordpress, having to turn to third party plugins.

We use Shopify w/ Wordpress for almost all ecommerce solutions

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

Shopify is a fantastic, simple tool for basic ecommerce solutions. We use it for clients that don't have a ton of products, and want a simple ecommerce system that they can edit and adjust themselves. Shopify makes integrating payment solutions easy as well. It works great with Wordpress (our most used CMS) so it is our go to for ecommerce as well.

Cons

Shopify isn't as great when it comes to products with large variation - and we've found woocommerce to be a slightly better service for that.

An Easy to Use Ecommerce website builder

Reviewed 4 years ago

I used Woocommerce to build my ecommerce website. It was easy to do unlike starting from scratch to build the website. Also I didn't have to pay website developers to build the website for me. It could have costed me a whole lot of money had I outsourced it to website developers.

Pros

Woocommerce is an ecommerce plugin built for WordPress. To be able to use Woocommerce one must install WordPress first. Just like the parent software (WordPress), Woocommerce is very commendable. The things I like about Woocommerce include the following: 1. Free to use: Just like WordPress, Woocommerce is free to use, though one may need to purchase some premium plugins to add some features that...

Cons

One of the issues I had with Woocommerce was the learning curve. Though it's easy to use after one is done learning it, but the learning curve wasn't very easy for me. After the initial stage of learning though, it became very easy to use. Also with Woocommerce, I had to be updating the server myself unlike with Shopify. Shopify maintains the server. Shopify handles the technicalities. Another issue was the need to buy an SSL encryption. With Shopify, this wasn't an issue for me, as Shopify takes care of that.

More flexible than Shopify, but more complicated

Reviewed 9 years ago

I switched over to WooCommerce from Shopify bc Shopify is a closed system that does not allow you to do many things. At this point I'm not sure if I made the right decision because of how many more problems come with using an open-source software VS the hosted and super simple Shopify. If you're a coder and want custom functionality, then Woocommerce might be for you. Otherwise using Shopify is a no-brainer.

Pros

- Open-source and customizable - Free

Cons

- Requires a lot of work to setup - Things break when you do updates - Self-hosted (could be a pro...)

WooCommerce Review

Pros

A lot of plug-in to play with it, seems to work better than Shopify

Cons

Taking too much time to input the plug-in, not like shopify plug in and play.

Highly Customizable E-Commerce Platform

Reviewed 4 years ago

We have migrated some clients to WooCommerce from other platforms, such as Magento. The ability to rapidly customize and deploy new store iterations was night and day vs older legacy platforms like Magento.

Pros

WooCommerce is easy to setup, and has a great out-of-the-box feature-set. What sets WooCommerce apart from its competition is the ability to customize nearly every aspect of the software via custom PHP functions, free & paid plugins, etc.

Cons

WooCommerce is lacking some intrinsic functionality vs Shopify and some of the other premium eCommerce platforms.

WooCommerce for Technical Users

Reviewed 2 years ago

We went with woocommerce cause we didn't want to pay a monthly fee with shopify plugins.

Pros

Really agile and does what you need it to do with the right plugin

Cons

Always need to check if other plugins are conflicting and casuing it to crash or not.

Ok Product

Reviewed 3 years ago

It gets the job done, but there are better options out there.

Pros

It integrates with a lot of custom websites and allows more custom changes than other solutions like shopify.

Cons

I don't think that it does as good of a job as Shopify. Because it is so custom, it often requires a developer to fully integrate it.
