Andon OS overview

What is Andon OS?

Andon OS is a digital production alert and incident management platform for manufacturing facilities, rooted in the Toyota Production System Andon methodology. Operators use touch-screen tablets mounted at workstations to report incidents by selecting a problem type, including machine breakdown, quality issue, material shortage, IT problem, or safety event. The system automatically routes alerts to the correct responder team through multiple notification channels: SMS, email, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Google Chat, robotic calls, large-screen plant-floor displays, and customized per-station audio signals. Automatic escalation rules trigger if no response is received within a defined time window, and every incident is tracked through a full ticketing system from trigger to resolution. Deployable as a cloud-based SaaS solution or as a local on-premises installation, Andon OS runs on standard commercial tablets with industrial protective cases over existing Wi-Fi or Ethernet infrastructure, with an approximate hardware cost of $250 per workstation. Go-live is achievable in approximately four weeks from project kickoff.

The platform targets manufacturing companies of all sizes, with particular focus on small and medium-sized manufacturers (SMEs) across industries including automotive, food processing, pharmaceutical, electronics, textiles, and general industrial manufacturing. Configuration scales from basic alert routing to advanced analytics and full system integrations via API with ERP, MES, CMMS, and SCADA platforms. Performance dashboards track call frequency per station, average response time, responder performance, and resolution time by problem type. Advanced configurations include historical incident data analysis to identify recurring problem trends and surface opportunities for preventive intervention before defects occur. All incident data is automatically collected and structured to feed continuous improvement initiatives, with full traceability supporting root cause analysis. Return on investment is typically achieved within a few months of deployment.
