DraftLayer overview

What is DraftLayer?

DraftLayer is a browser-based PDF markup application for architects, engineers, contractors, and construction teams reviewing drawings, plans, technical documents, and images. It brings CAD-style precision tools to the browser so teams can create clear, organized markups without relying on a desktop-installed PDF editor.

Annotate documents with lines, rectangles, circles, arcs, polylines, polygons, freehand tools, revision clouds, highlights, text, leader lines, callouts, and reusable stamps. DraftLayer supports accurate dimension lines and scale calibration, with measurements in pixels, millimetres, centimetres, inches, and points.

For technical drawing workflows, DraftLayer includes nine object-snap modes, including endpoint, midpoint, intersection, perpendicular, and nearest snapping, along with PDF vector geometry snapping for CAD drawings. Annotation layers can be organized with visibility, lock, and routing controls to keep multidisciplinary reviews readable.

DraftLayer helps teams standardize recurring review tasks through reusable dynamic stamps. Build stamps with fillable text, number, date, dropdown, checkbox, and radio fields for title blocks, RFIs, inspection forms, approval markups, and revision blocks. Stamps can be exported and imported as JSON to share standardized markup libraries across a team.

Teams can collaborate on the same drawing in real time with live cursors, presence indicators, automatic saving, and conflict-free synchronization. Version control captures recoverable document revisions with author and timestamp information, while manual and interval-based snapshots support audit trails and rollback workflows.

Additional capabilities include multi-page document editing, multi-tab workflows, reusable stamp libraries, vector PDF export, high-resolution printing, read-only share links with optional expiry, themes, adjustable interface scaling, offline-capable PWA support, touch and iPad support, keyboard shortcuts, and full undo/redo history.
