The imaging management component employs fog and edge computing to deliver real-time high-resolution images without reliance on browser-based interfaces, remote desktop sessions, or virtual private network connections.

The practice management component supports appointment scheduling, administrative workflows, and automated billing processes configured for ophthalmic services. The patient engagement module offers digital intake forms and automated patient reminder workflows tailored to eye care environments. The client-server architecture delivers consistent performance regardless of data storage location and eliminates dependencies on internet connectivity for core application functionality.

Development of Optivate involved direct collaboration with practicing ophthalmologists in clinical settings to ensure seamless integration with diagnostic instruments and real-world workflows. The system maintains Office of the National Coordinator certification and includes compliance features for Merit-based Incentive Payment System reporting requirements and Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources standards. Clinical data is stored in structured relational database fields to support comprehensive reporting and longitudinal data analysis. Integrated revenue cycle services manage billing operations on behalf of practices while support for optical dispensary functions, server monitoring, and remote assistance is provided as part of the technical infrastructure.
