ModusBill keeps a firm's billing in one place, from the first time entry to the final payment. It is built for law firms and accounting firms, with vocabulary and modules adjusted to each.

Staff log time against a matter or engagement as work happens, or enter a full week in a timesheet grid. Billing staff can adjust billable hours before an invoice goes out, while the original entry stays visible with a recorded reason. Hourly work, flat fees, and expenses come together on a single invoice.

Each invoice goes out by email with a secure link, so clients can view and pay without creating an account. Stripe and PlaceToPay are configured per firm, and online payments post to the invoice automatically. Scheduled reminders follow up in the client's language and stop once the invoice is paid or voided.

For law firms, ModusBill includes IOLTA trust ledgers that cannot go negative, monthly three-way reconciliation, and LEDES 1998B export with UTBMS codes for insurers and corporate clients. For accounting firms, recurring charges create draft invoices on a schedule, and nothing reaches a client until someone sends it.

A two-way QuickBooks Online connection syncs invoices, customers, and payments. Configurable dashboards, A/R aging reports, and unbilled-work reports show where the firm stands, and reports export to CSV or PDF. The interface and invoices are available in English and Spanish, and firms can import from Clio, PracticePanther, MyCase, or spreadsheets.
