SoleSorted is a local-first Windows desktop application developed for UK sole traders, freelancers, small side-business owners and landlords who maintain financial records without adopting comprehensive accounting software. It provides a structured workflow for importing bank transaction data, categorizing income and expenses, attaching supporting documents and preparing accountant-ready export packages.

The workflow begins with import of bank transactions in CSV format, eliminating manual entry of individual records. A transaction categorization feature enables review of each entry and classification into income and expense categories. Users may define category rules that automatically apply predefined classifications to transactions sharing common descriptions or supplier names. Attachment of digital receipt files links source documents to corresponding transaction records and ensures a complete audit trail.

Quarterly summary views present aggregated data across reporting periods to enable monitoring of financial positions over the tax year. Export functionality generates a packaged archive containing organized transaction records and attached receipt files formatted for accountant review. All bookkeeping data and attachments remain on local storage to maintain direct control and privacy.

SoleSorted operates independently of internet connectivity and does not require online accounts or cloud storage. It does not integrate with banking institutions for automatic feeds, lacks direct submission to regulatory systems and does not support multi-user collaboration through cloud platforms. The application is currently in alpha development status and users should employ test or sample data and verify exported figures before relying on them for official purposes.
