Tester is a self-hosted test management and automation tool for teams that want visibility into their testing without sending anything to the cloud.

Tests are written in a plain-text DSL where one line is one action, for example: Open URL, Type "..." into "Email", Click "Sign in", Verify "Runs" is present on page. There are no page objects and no glue code to maintain. The runner resolves labels against the live DOM (aria labels, placeholders, titles, visible text) and waits on a page-quiet monitor instead of hard-coded sleeps, which keeps suites short and stable. The same DSL drives web (Selenium), API (HTTP with JSON schema and OpenAPI contract assertions) and mobile (Appium, Android and iOS) testing.

The dashboard is built for the whole team, not just the engineer who wrote the test: suites and runs live side by side, every run produces an Allure report, defects are tracked per run, and schedules keep smoke suites running on their own. Failures can alert Slack or email and open and update Jira issues automatically.

Everything installs on-premises: signed native installers for Windows, macOS and Debian/Ubuntu (apt), plus a Docker deployment. It is light enough to run on a Raspberry Pi. Test processes run behind an execution boundary that withholds host secrets from suite code, so a test can never read your admin credentials, and resolved credentials are scrubbed from logs and reports by value.

A built-in GenAI layer can draft suites from a requirements document or a live page snapshot, using your own local model (Ollama) or a cloud provider you configure. Whatever it drafts is the same reviewable plain text, and execution stays fully deterministic.
