WatchGuard AuthPoint product overview

What is WatchGuard AuthPoint?

AuthPoint Identity Security provides the solutions you need to protect identities, assets, accounts, and information. Whether it is with our award-winning multi-factor authentication (MFA) or our corporate password manager and credential monitoring services, AuthPoint helps to mitigate the risks associated with widespread workforce credential attacks.

Key benefits of using WatchGuard AuthPoint

- Reduce credentials management costs: A password manager will reduce the number of times a user will need to reset passwords

- Increase user adoption of identity protection: Having to create, manage and memorize fewer passwords, users will adopt and use more identity protection solutions. Even those concerned about the AuthPoint app will have an incentive to do it, to facilitate the login process and manage their own personal passwords

- Reduce exposure related to credential theft (phishing, dark web, social engineering, etc.): Having unique, complex and virtually uncrackable passwords will reduce exposure from certain types of credential theft. “Credential stuffing” and “credential spraying” attacks, for example, will have a very low chance of working against a company using a business password manager.

Pros
Easy to use and works like is promised. Grateful for the multi-factor and how easy it is to use.
A great product, sensibly priced with great add-on features with WatchGuards typical excellent support behind it.
Great product and great support, would definelty recommend this product.
Cons
The loging is horrible when trying to support failed user sign-on. It isn't updated on the fly, and there are no details other than authorized and unauthorized.
Confused and somewhat concerned about the billing schedule for adding additional licenses to the pool.
You get horrible reporting if any, limited third party integration, you can't even completely integrate with Azure for two-factor.

Solid VPN Tool

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

I use WatchGuard AuthPoint for one thing and that is to access our network via VPN when I am working remotely. It is very simple to use. You enter your password and you are done. I do not experience any lag or issues.

Cons

There really isn't much to dislike. I do wish that WatchGuard would remember my password instead of requiring me to enter it each and every time.

WG Authpoint worth the spend if you already own a WG firebox

Reviewed a month ago

AuthPoint has worked well for us. We have used it for over 2 years now and it is easy to deploy and easy to add/remove users to the system.

Pros

Ease of setup and user interface make it a easy setup.

Cons

Not for us directly, but you need (I believe) to have a WG firebox in order to use the product.,

Not a product I would recommend

Reviewed a month ago

I would change to DUO in a heart beat. DUO is far superior and even the lower levels of DUO is better than this.

Pros

It can at least do push notifications.

Cons

You get horrible reporting if any, limited third party integration, you can't even completely integrate with Azure for two-factor. The portal is horrible. I don't even contact support unless I'm forced to because it sucks. Even your re-sellers, or at least the one I have to use, charge me to work up a quote.

Authpoint is the way to go!

Reviewed 3 months ago

Watchguard Authpoint has given us the much needed boost to get our security to the desired level. Especially when the pandemic started and we had a large amount of remote workers that connected over SSL VPN, Authpoint made this happen securely and without compromising our security. We were lucky to have implemented Authpoint just in time when we massively needed it!

Pros

Oure remote workers can securely connect using MFA. The online tokens make this secure, and not possible to duplicate/copy the tokens. Approving SSL VPN connections via Authpoint Mobile is ultra fast!

Cons

We are missing the ability to force all users to change their Authpoint password every xx days. We are also missing the possibility to define a policy to enforce the minimum required password complexity.
