Apify wins in my book based on its excellent customer support and its effective and proven actors. I am a researcher whose specialty is not programming, so having an interface that was easy to understand and work with as someone who has only passing experience with the backend was vital. The live chat was an excellent tool for me to get help from a pro when I ran into any trouble at all, too.

I did sometimes run into small hiccups based on a mismatch between my input and the scraped output. CS let me know that one specific bug I ran into would be addressed by the end of the week, but if I had to list a con, that would be it.

Seemingly they offer a great scraping product for a non-developer audience

I had one use case, which I couldn't get to work. (I am confident the problem is not with me, because I successfully use their competitors). However, their support simply never got back to me even after I followed up with them. Horrible customer experience and for this reason I cannot recommend them.

Apify is easy to understand, easy to use and integrates well with my cloud solution (Google Sheets and Google Apps Script). I also think the marketplace is fantastic, they just would need some more control over the apps (i.e. free actors should be fully open-source, so the APIFY team could update these when fixing the issues reported). Maybe those have free license already, but the APIFY team has no extensive resources to maintain all these apps. I really love the marketplace idea, people can share knowledge easily, and I can do a scraping job very easily with no coding at all.

Pricing - although I like the $5/month credit for beginners, there should be a price range of $10-$15/month for those who need relatively less amounts of data for their private / non-profit / educational use or are not building a service they would sell on.
