Pros

I knew nothing about the Nosql, until I started with Mongodb, what I like the most about mongdb is the ease of use and the excellent customer support.
It is much perfect when we are integrating it with JavaScript backend. I recommend using MongoDB for all the web developers as it provides great developer experience.
Speed and scalability are better than other databases like MySQL. It is most suitable for the non-relational database.

Pros

This is a great way to leverage your data to get better metrics and results. The world is driven by data these days and this is a great way to leverage that.
Very good - SQL Server have so far been a joy to work with. Along with T-SQL support and Azure integration, we're very happy with its performance and environment, including cool data visualization.
I like that it's really stable and it doesn't consume a lot of resources. It's easy to use, highly customizable, and the performance is great.

Cons

There are no functions available for Transaction. MongoDB's documentation is much confusing to the users.
It took me some time to get used to NoSQL development coming from a SQL background, but this shouldn't mean that the product is bad for others.
One wrong installation click can send you into hours of troubleshooting to discover that you did not install the software as a service (always running in the background).

Cons

For instance, rather than receiving a syntax error, you can receive a weird message if you forget to include a comma while listing the fields you are asking for.
What I don't like most about this is that the error messages can be lacking sometimes leaving you puzzled as to what actually occurred.
For example if you miss a comma while listing out the fields you are querying for you can get a strange error rather than a syntax error.

Advance way to save data

Reviewed 6 years ago

Earlier we were using sql server but now we have started work through mongo db as it provide massive speed with larger amount of data.

Pros

It provide greate performace even we have large amount of data. It also support various tools like apache's and terrastore. It store the complex data in simpler format so we do not worry about advance concept like RDBMS. It automatically manage your data and return the result through simpler query.

Cons

As it support various types of tool which increased its sized and lead to slow speed of system. It does not support to relational queries we have to do it manually.

MongoDB

One of the best NoSQL alternatives to traditional row/column RDBMSs

Reviewed 5 years ago

While my company uses the Microsoft stack (.NET/IIS/SQL Server) for our enterprise development, we use a MERN (MongoDb, Express.js, React and Node.js) stack for most of our internal development (Intranet, sales reporting, ETL, automation, etc.). MongoDb is a key part of the flexibility of this stack, allowing us to model dynamic and complex data very quickly -- a huge advantage working in an agile development environment with short dev cycles and heavy reliance on iteration/refactoring.

Pros

Being a NoSQL, document-based database, MongoDb allows me to think about data NOT in terms of rows, columns, tables and keys, but in terms of complex hierarchical JSON-like documents that very closely resemble how the data is presented and used. This is incredibly valuable when quickly stubbing out a new app's feature set and the data requirements for it, with the added advantage that MongoDb works seemlessly within a MEAN/MERN development framework. Also, the learning curve is greatly shortened by MongoDb University, which is a free set of training courses taught by MongoDb, Inc., Engineers. It's an amazing free resource for the neophyte Mongo developer.

Cons

Because MongoDb doesn't have a schema, deeply nested objects can become needlessly complex if the developer doesn't have a strong understanding of hit/her data. Queries requiring joins of complex object structures can be slow in non-optimized, under-powered environments.

My go to NoSQL database!

Reviewed 6 years ago

I use MongoDB for a lot of my side projects. It is truly great!

Pros

MongoDB is so flexible. It allows me to create a schemaless database, something that wins me over the many other SQL databases. Not to mention the speed of the queries is great!

Cons

It is still not as fleshed out as other SQL options, thus support for some areas that SQL has support for are lacking.

Mongo DB review

Very good

Pros

Mongo DB one of the most leading documents database. The is the gaint in no SQL . The concept of no SQL is the alternative of relational database management system, so when we use this mongo DB it's take less time to make database modal and save the development time. The second thing which is important the process and loading time decreased of any applicable or software which is using mongodb, because it's just get all the data in one go without making any logic in server side.

Cons

This is one of the complete software in it self , most importantly open source software, still because of new software you would not find much help over inter for your problem.

Review of MongoDB

Reviewed 5 years ago

I'm using mongoDB for more than two years and It was great selection when I need to store documents which has unknown structure along with shared structures. That means, it's very easy to save a JSON in mongoDB. This is very helpful when creating embedded databases for java microservices projects using spring boot by adding dependencies via start.spring.io

Pros

MongoDB is a schema less database management system and it has a document based structure and can store collection values on documents. It is extremely faster than the relational database management systems and it is a light weight reliable application. And It is very easy to scale while the product is open sourced which is free of charge.

Cons

Database joins are not supported since this is a No-sql database.

Pros

MongoDB is well suited for simple web applications. It fits superiorly with node, angular and express togetherly known as MEAN stack. Storing and retrieving data in MongoDB is extremely easy and it supports variety of features like fast text search, sharding, indexing and quick scalability.

Cons

Developers from SQL background may find it a little difficult to work with it as its schemaless, unlike SQL databases. Also if the database is not properly designed, the MongoDB can be slow.

Pros

MongoDB is very easy to setup on most platforms, it also runs fast, I have it as a database for different applications. Using it with MongoDB Atlas gives you a good managed database as a service at a cheap price but it also works great when it is self hosted.

Cons

MongoDB - The Best No-SQL Database!

Reviewed 3 years ago

I used MongoDB in a laboratory environment, adding access levels for users to access the data remotely. I also interacted with the database a lot and it was way easier to create and manage it. Furthermore, I never experienced a server-crash whilst accessing the data, which is fairly common for most other no-sql databases. Even-so, it just proves that it manages the memory well.

Pros

MongoDB has integrations with almost all computer languages used today, with even having an integration with Erlang (a very rarely used language). The drivers are easily available from open source contributors and works amazingly well. For a No-SQL database, it is amazingly well managed and easier to use in almost all other languages.

Cons

Its sort of confusing to manage the access control levels of the users, as it is all stored in json file. If there was a way to sort of make this process graphical or interactive, it would have reduced many access threats in a database.

Decent alternative to SQL database. Works super well if your model doesn't depend heavily on relations.

Pros

Cons

- Doesn't work so well once you start having relationships in your model - The aggregation framework could be better - The free text search could also be better

No SQL? Then MongoDB!

Reviewed 5 years ago

A great place to start in the world of No-SQL if you come from relational databases!

Pros

Having worked with relational databases during many years, my first contact with no relational databases is with MongoDB. I must say that it's possible the best No-SQL DB if you have a similar background. It's easy to understand the concepts, and easy to work with MongoDB. In addition, if you already know Javascript and manage JSON, MongoDB will be easier to learn and manage. Understanding collections and records takes almost no time. And you will easily work with the equivalent to the CRUD operations.

Cons

The integration with some programming languages is not at its best.

Awesome NoSQL database

Reviewed 4 years ago

MongoDB provides most of the features of SQL databases, if not more, like aggregation, clustering, replication, compound indexes etc. Once configured properly, it lets you quickly start saving and fetching data very easily and efficiently.

Pros

Mongo comes as an alternative to SQL databases and provides vast number of features and flexibilty as compared to SQL databases. It can be used for storing huge amounts of data as JSONs and it provides seamless integration with tech stack using Node.js.

Cons

Even though Mongo allows you to build your application without a rigid schema, it still needs to be configured and architectured properly to make sure the performance is up to the mark when data size starts increasing.
