Azure Files overview

What is Azure Files?

Azure Files is a file-sharing software that helps businesses manage enterprise-grade file shares in the cloud using server message block (SMB) file protocols. The platform offers Azure File Sync and a storage migration service, which enables administrators to lift and shift file shares as well as existing servers to the cloud.

Managers can integrate the system with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) through the application programming interface (API) to store and manage data in the cloud. Azure Files allows supervisors to move data across containers using network file system (NFS) protocols on a unified interface. Team leaders can also create and mount network file shares in the cloud or on-premises deployments of macOS, Windows, and Linux to cache and access data on Windows Servers.

Azure Files offers multiple protocol support, which lets stakeholders store data from different sources and also migrate existing servers.
