Great for Large Companies!

With unlimited Data and security options, this is a great tool for large companies and corporations to send files in a secure manner. Also great for single person use as this option is free.

Pros

Google Docs integration allows simultaneous editing.

Box

2018-11-19

I like Box and the overall approach, but have steered more to a Google Doc instead recently.

Pros

The ability to share content is nice to have, but so many other applications make it easier to do.

Cons

I would rather use a Google Doc to edit and collaborate and share than Box, as it gets a little clunky.

Easy and capable cloud storage and file sharing platform

2018-05-10

Pros

I have used many different cloud storage programs both for business and personal use. Box is my favorite by some margin, mostly because it's intuitive to use and reliable. The competition is stiff in this field but Box has managed to stay current. I especially like the file previews, which work like a charm.

Cons

No major drawbacks. Google Docs has maybe better collaboration features, but overall Box is a very capable performer.

Box: a great way to share a lot of information with a lot of people

2015-12-15

Pros

Box does a great job of allowing users to organize files in ways that make sense. Much like the "My Documents" space in your PC, your Box space can act like one giant "My Documents" area for an entire team. Box has great search features and it keeps track of revisions to documents that are stored within it, allowing you to easy revert back to an older version of a document just in case you need to. Team members can also easily leave comments and feedback on the files stored in shared folders.

Cons

This feature tries to be like Google Docs, but it just falls short.

Box helps share documents with your team

2019-02-22

Pros

Box is helpful is providing a shared drive that is easily accessible on or off campus and also allows you to share files, especially large ones, with people outside of your company. The editing features are nice, letting you make edits and save to update the document for everyone to view. You can also lock the document so others cannot make edits. The folder system makes it easy to organize.

Cons

You cannot see the edits in real time (like you can with Google Docs) and sometimes you can overwrite someones changes by saving your new version immediately after they did.

Box Review

2018-10-23

I personally would not use box for my own personal use. My coworkers at my institution use it frequently. I do not find it user friendly or intuitive to use.

Pros

Box software easily allows you to share files and projects with your team. This also saves to the cloud so it frees up space on your device.

Cons

It would be easier to just edit the document in the cloud like in Google docs.

A bit restricted cloud storage

2018-10-10

Pros

It has Microsoft Office and Google Docs integration, so your documents and spreadsheets can be stored in the cloud easily.

Great file sharing app - just wish the sync would work better

2018-05-19

Pros

What's great about Box is the integration of Microsoft Word Online - as well as Google Docs/Sheets.

Cons

The desktop sync app is completely unreliable. Sometimes it deletes files from my hard drive. Other times it goes slower than molasses. Most recently, I had 75gb of files deleted off my hard drive. Thank goodness they are still in the cloud, but considering I have Satellite Internet, it's going to take about a day to download them all again - and use half of my monthly data!

Better than dropbox but with a great price

2019-03-12

Being able to easily share files and having decent storage is what this delivers, ease of business is vitally important and being able to have everything in one place is a plus.

Pros

Still playing catch up with Dropbox after all these years.

2018-06-26

Pros

To be honest, I really don't have any idea who this software is for. After checking the creation date of my earliest file I see that I've been "using" box since 2009, but not really using it, if you know what I mean. I used a sync service to put all my Dropbox files on box, just to be extra safe, because I'm paranoid that way, and then I promptly forgot about it for several months, checked in on it again and saw nothing new to keep me there, while Dropbox kept improving.

Cons

Being able to create a Google Doc or Excel spreadsheet and all you can do is click a button to open it...in Google Docs or Excel.

Wonderful experience with Box.

Organization and collaboration.

Pros

We started using box at my old job because it was much more secure than google docs. Everyone instantly adopted, as Box is so simple and helpful!

Cons

My only suggestion would be to make it more customizable. One ask I have been hearing is a customized folder where you could make it client specific.

Using Box at a large University

2019-02-15

If I had to choose between Dropbox or Box for file storage and sharing, I'd choose Dropbox because the interface, sharing, and syncing is easier and less cluttered. If I had to choose between Google Drive and Box, I'd choose Google Drive for it's very seamless and easy asynchronous editing without having to open different software outside of the app.

Pros

As an end-user at a large University, it's nice to use the University's login to authenticate and be able to use the University directory to manager users for sharing. It's great to not have to worry about space limits because it is offered as a University service.

Cons

I don't like that I have to open software to edit a document, compared to Google Docs/Spreadsheet.

Another Free Cloud

2018-12-14

I use Box to share files between devices (the mobile device integration is very good) and to create documents on the go, especially when those need to be shared with others. Box Notes is a good basic communication tool but the idiosyncrasies of uploading large files can be frustrating.

Pros

The ability to create both MS Office and Google Docs documents within the web app is useful and unique.

Cons

Uploading large files can be problematic. Even when the account has sufficient space and bandwidth, uploading a large file often fails without feedback regarding either the progress of the upload or the actual failure itself.

Minimalistic version of Word

2018-08-16

Google Docs is used for making drafts for various documentation which is immediately easily accessible for all the team members.

Pros

Google Docs is compact and easy to use. When there is no need to have "special" design functions it is perfect. Most positive is online editing with the possibility of adding comments. Other Team members can effectively answer the questions and add necessary changes.

Cons

For example I don't see option for inserting "Text box".

All of my online blogs and content is stored in my Google Docs account. The Best.

2018-07-13

Pros

Simply everything. This gives the flexibility and operability of MS Word on an online platform. And, the autosave feature just saves the day.

Cons

The search box for the Google Doc sometimes doesn't fetch all the results from the doc.

More like a fancy version of MS Notepad, not like a basic version of Word.

Using it for 1200 work stations, I expect 1000 users will get used to it in the end, the remaining 200 are power users who will be frustrated as they need much more functionality than Google docs has to offer.

Pros

It's easy to use, great for people who think that changing the font is advanced Word processing. It has potential, if they managed to merge Google docs and Google forms rather than have these just side by side, and bring back fusion tables the product would be awesome!

Cons

Much too basic, very limited lay-out options, no drop-boxes, text boxes, hidden text, etc.

Easy and accessible

2019-01-08

As a student, this software has been very helpful of my college experience. It allowed my group and me to work on our assignments together when we were in different places.

Pros

A pro about this software is that as long as I have my google account, I can access it at any computer without constantly sending the file. In addition, multiple people can edit the document, which is very helpful during group work.

Cons

A con of this software is that it sometimes can glitch causing the boxes or words to be placed in an awkward way.

Accessible everywhere

2018-05-22

It's accessible and free

Pros

I like Google Docs because I can access it anywhere and it's free. It works well as a simple word processor application.

Cons

There are important features that are missing like mail merge and text boxes. I would also like the ability to turn off auto save.

Google Docs - for ease of sharing information

2018-08-13

I use it almost every day for sharing information between people in groups and indiviuals. It's my go to for anything where I have to give people access to any data.

Pros

I could access and edit the doc at the same time as many other people and collaborate through a chat box for those that aren't on a call with me.

Cons

When I go to hit Ctrl+S it sometimes wants to save the browser page to my desktop instead of saving the document.

Super easy to use software that is accessible to everybody

2018-07-11

I used it everyday for collaboration with my team and to send over documents to be edited timely and be able to trace a history with later versions.

Pros

It is extremely easy to use and it integrates well with every product int the GoogleSuite such as emails, calendars, Googleslides and Googlesheets

Cons

For example, it is impossible to create beautiful to-do lists with boxes to tick off or tables.
