OWNER

That they repeatedly told me that the software could do something that it could not in fact do. After I was thousands of dollars into it with subscription fees and set up labor including countless hours on the phone with their support - we discovered that it could not in fact do what the salesperson said it could.

I liked the customer view of the daily report being a single page report about their project.

PERMIT TECHNICIAN

It makes scheduling, communication, budgeting, and document sharing easy in one platform, helping construction projects stay organized and on track.

Operations Coordinator

By introducing Buildertrend, our labour force was able to enter all of their daily logs, expenses, and project updates all from their phone, which resulted in fewer lost documents, more daily awareness from all teams, and more than 30 hours saved in manual data entry and filing time for the administrative team.

This is quiet an expensive software for a small company to manage, and I found their sales team to be a bit pushy regarding add-ons even though we frequently reminded them that the add-ons were not applicable to our business, either due to structure or size, and out of price range.

Office manager

Client updates feature is very popular with our clients and the AI feature to pull photos and generate a summary for the client is gold.

Admin

I also appreciate the mobile app—it makes it easy to update projects, track progress, and share documents on the go.

Estimator

Its everything together in one software, the new Job Costing Budget tab is very accurate and we can control the entire job budget from there.

Other than what you would expect in the project management tab (schedule, to-dos), what we find most helpful are the daily logs and client updates.

There was also a huge learning curve for all teams, but they prioritized the operations team and barely spent time answering questions we had for the labourer's view.

VP of Sales and Estimating

The tool helps me keep field teams, office staff, and clients aligned throughout the entire project.

Owner

I’ve been a long-time Buildertrend user, and while the software itself is fine and generally works as advertised, I’ve run into a major issue that anyone considering this platform should be aware of: it’s extremely difficult to export your information if you ever decide to leave.

Chief Operating Officer

It is very powerful however not being able to link a job page to an ERP or other CRM is a huge opportunity lost

They also make it incredibly difficult to retrieve your information and export it out if you cancel.

As a result, I’ve been forced to continue paying for a platform I’m no longer actively using simply because I need access to my historical project data.

Sometimes Buildertrend’s eagerness for constant improvement makes the portal more convoluted and makes some features redundant.

Instead of ease of use and making the load lighter we struggled figuring out where everything was, having to rearrange and re enter what we had already put in.

Studio conversion

Buildertrend slowed down the payment a little bit for the contractor, as I had to verify small payments that went into my bank.

For anyone managing construction projects, it’s a powerful and reliable tool.

Overall, it keeps everything organized and accessible in one place.

In buildertrend you have the ability to keep all information from your client in one program.

Office Manager

All in all BT is a good software to send customers change's to approve and pay, track the progress of the project, manager purchase orders and even pay invoices.

Sometimes I also log deliveries or check the timeline when things are moving fast.

Communication with subcontractors and field installation crews.

There is so much functionality I don't use it to it's fullest and the "college" only occurs in one place that is far from our location in Florida.

Project manager

You can manage the schedule from the app and all the subs get notified right away.

Manager

It also logs the date, time and location of each update, which I can use as proof that we finish that job on that specific time, and if something happened after that it was not our fault.

accounting

Also, they assured us that their platform could handle Canadian tax. If you are from Canada, I suggest you ask some hard questions before you onboard.

Some find the UI to be cluttered or unintuitive, especially when switching between desktop and mobile.

Controller

It does not integrate with our accounting software (Sage Intacct Construction).

Managing several accounts from the same client was a little tricky, but they did fix most of the issues with that.

director

You have to add VAT manually to every proposal/quote and invoice!

For many years the coconstruct team would occasionally update the software and add features. Until they stopped doing it after they were bought out by Builder Trend.

Partner

Our team uses the scheduling tool and invitation to invite subcontractors to participate most often, allowing transparency in each project.

was excited to use a program that worked and made what we did easier to handle our big load of projects

Project coordinator

It has been rewarding learning how to utilize this tool to keep our company egfective and informed from prep to finish!

Landscape design and sales

The filters stay put and don’t reset so sometimes you’re stuck in one search
