Revit, the future is now

2019-12-04

We can pick up potential problem and issue in the design phases rather than during construction.

Pros

most versatile across multi discipline time/cost saving object/3d model orientated rather than linework/linetype based ease of design/construction management model in 4 dimensions, 3d objects with phasing (time)

Cons

huge learning curve cost of creating and managing company digital asset

This is how the 3D design software should look like

2020-04-03

Compared to basic CAD it's a game changer. Instead of being drafting-driven, it's truly information-based and 3D.

Pros

1) Fully 3D from the start 2) Ease of use in typical applications 3) Parametric design 4) Navigation (Views, plans etc) 5) Integration of Dynamo

Cons

1) You need to jump through hurdles if you want to use a lot of custom shapes/angles/etc 2) Common Data Environment connectivity isn't great 3) Asset Data management could be improved

REVITize your Design

2020-11-11

This is a very valuable program for all facets of a project, from schematic design through construction and into operations.

Pros

This core functionality is what allows for the automatic coordination and consolidation of the construction documents to reduce possible errors in coordination between all the drawings.

Cons

It would also be a plus if there was better integration between the design models and putting it out for fabrication which is becoming more and more viable as a construction practice.

Revit for designing of multiple engineering fields

2019-07-21

Revit is used in some projects to co-ordinate the work among different engineering fields.

Pros

Therefore reducing the time of rework and cost.

Cons

Revit is a complex program to master. But if you do you won't need anything other than revit for designing.

Revit for 3D architectural and structural modelling

2020-06-12

Revit has been helpful in structural design and architectural modeling problems and related civil engineering applications. The interface is welcoming and really helpful for productive project use.

Pros

The software options designed specifically for architectural and structural modelling is the best part especially when this is compatible Autodesk's Autocad software for building plans.

Cons

If you are familiar with other modelling software like Solidworks, the standard tools are similar and easy to interpret while complex/advanced tools need bit more expertise to get used to.

Best in Class Professional Architecture Design and Construction Software

2020-07-18

I use Revit (Architecture) every day from schematic design through construction administration, for quick design exercises, client presentations, and of course construction documentation.

Pros

Revit connects design and documentation seamlessly, allowing design changes to be reflected in construction documents as soon as they are modeled.

Cons

Some operations can be finicky and difficult to learn, but it is so widely used and frequently updated, that it's easy to find learn how to do anything you may need to do for a typical architectural project.

Far Exceeds abilities of CAD related design software

2019-10-22

I use Revit on a daily basis to develop architectural projects, and use it to coordinate design ideas on a regular basis with engineering consultants.

Pros

The coordination of all aspects of a building through all the different sheets. Change something in one view and it seamlessly gets updated on all other related sheets in the project.

Cons

Every now and then I come across a tool that I wish had the ability to do something extra.

Revit for work

2020-09-03

Pros

Working in 2D and 3D this days is the best tool because most of our clients like to see what the project will look like in real life and with this we can do it in a short time too This software also lets me work together with others like AutoCAD or SketchUp, this is very helpful since so many people are doing the transition from AutoCAD for example to Revit and the have the projects in CAD

Cons

What I think it could be fix in this software is to find and easy way to apply location or sun position for projects that have a rear topography or needs/want a sun/shadow projection. Other thing is when we have more than 2 views open at the same time have the option to minimize which ever we want, this last version doesn't have that option anymore and it was a good one when working in big projects

Revit, the best Advanced Design tool for Structural and Architectural Designs.

2019-07-28

We use it for all big projects that need to have creative features that make it standout from other designs.

Pros

Revit allows you to design complicated structural designs and creative Architectural concepts with intricate details compatible with Autodesk programs for exports. It helps you build from scratch and develope your design project with completely definable attributes.

Cons

The issue with revit is that its more complex and time consuming than its counterpart, Archicad. You will take alot of time defining objects that come predefined in other softwares. It also lacks built in Furniture Library.

Scheduling

2019-07-24

So it is a give and take but as a tool, its on par with cad.

Pros

Automatic pickups of changes done in plans sections schedules etc.. once you do a change it is smart so it picks up the changes throughout your entire model so you save time here in pickups

Cons

Can't integrate Excel data well, text blocks don't support carriage returns, well they will work but the line is a single cell line so you never see full text formating in schedules.

makes life easier

2020-08-03

It allows the user to create without limitations without counting on the BIM tool which is a revolution for the area

Pros

the ease that the Software offers in providing the 3d model from the low end automatically makes the modeling of the project much easier!

Cons

As it is a very robust software, it requires the need for a powerful computer to run more elaborate renderings, but it is not a software limiter.
