Pros

I love the app and gives me accounting on the go. Helps me track invoices and profits with ease.
The ease of use and reputation are by far the greatest part of this product. In addition to this, the range of potential integrations is fantastic.
Really easy to submit expenses, categorise them and check the progress of you submitted expense - super easy to do all from the app.

Pros

User friendly design that is easy to learn and navigate, great for invoicing people as well as paying invoices, good organization of invoices and payments.
Quickbooks is the bread and butter of my business, it is the best accounting program I have used. I love that it continues to improve and allow more integration with apps and documentation programs.
The help on the team when getting this product was great, the features are honestly really great, I use it for payroll as well and it is really worth the cost.

Cons

There are no delivery notes/packing slips. They tout a "workaround" but be warned, it's exactly 10 extra clicks so it's really not an option if you need this feature.
Our main complaint is that Xero stopped doing payroll in 2018, so now you have to pay an additional fee to a payroll processor such as Gusto.
Changing accounting software from Xero is a horrible experience. They make it very difficult to pivot to other software.

Cons

Submitting hours for the wrong week unintentionally can be frustrating because there is no way to reverse it without supervisor permissions.
The customer service is terrible. I usually get forwarded from person to person because I'm in the "wrong department," but I know it's because the person just doesn't know the answer.
No recourse through customer service. Data is held hostage as leverage for stopping cancellation of unauthorized charges, ie: sure you can cancel but we're not sure what will happen to your data.

I was a Quickbooks Pro Advisor for five years and relied heavily on an expensive and inconsistent server to share data with clients. - Ease of use: Understandable menus- navigation is a cinch - Cost: a fraction of the cost of Quickbooks Desktop + a server and on par with Quickbooks Online - SaaS integration- Have a software you need connected? There is likely an API for it

Cons

No job costing, in depth inventory without using a third party app Reporting is limited Both of these cons will be addressed this year, likely and there are SaaS add on solutions present.

As a small business owner, you can spend a lot of time on accounting tasks that do not directly produce revenue. Perfecting your Xero (or QuickBooks) entries can take time away from growing your business. Thankfully, most accounting services are now cloud-based accounting software programs like Xero that help you handle financials without the hassle (i.e automation, rules, zapier integrations and more). Xero's easy-to-use software lets you automate repetitive accounting processes, reducing your accounting workload, so you can focus on the tasks that generate revenue for your company. They should have a free trial for you to test out to see if it is a good fit.

Pros

If you’re a small business owner, you know that outside of paying your employees and keeping the lights on, staying on top of accounting and taxes can be an absolute nightmare. Taking care of your finances is stressful enough as it is, and even simple tasks like sending out invoices can take hours to complete. But what if there was a solution that could improve your bottom line by automating your bookkeeping, billing and reporting? Well you have many choices, but two stick out as some of the most well known in the industry - Xero and quickbooks. Both Xero and Quickbooks online are both great. Honestly, just choose which one floats your boat as far as interface goes. Both are great accounting software. However your accountant may be more familiar with quickbooks

Not too many cons I can think of. Maybe they could be better with kit builds/ more inventory management features. (Quickbooks desktop might be best for that)

Overall I find Xero very difficult to use, it doesn't seem to reconcile well and the reports are hard to customize or run properly

Pros

I currently cannot think of anything that I like about Xero, I always have things that I am wanting to do but either cannot do, or find it very hard to do with Xero (such as reconciling properly or pulling different reports)

Cons

I find this software very challening to use. I primarily use QuickBooks Online and Desktop with my clients, we have one client on Xero, and find that Xero is very difficult to use, and does not have the functionality that I am used to with QB.

Xero optimizes several accounting users

Xero is Xero's flagship accounting software. After switching to QuickBooks, we needed a cloud-based application that would reliably allow multiple users in different locations to log in and access a shared set of data without the need for conflicts or complex VPN or remote desktop solutions that were required in QuickBooks. It is ideal for professional consulting agencies. I have not had contact with it in the food or service industry sectors, so it could work well in this arena, but I have no direct knowledge.

Pros

Xero offers all the functionality we need and has none that we don't, which makes it a very practical and intuitive system. There is no complex learning curve to implement the software. The customizable reports make it easy for me to organize accounting data in a very practical and manageable way. As a web application, there is no desktop software to update, synchronize, perform remote work, etc. Everything is updated in real time across all locations and user accounts.

Cons

Many of the features are not present in your application, plus the site is not compatible with mobile devices, so you must run it on a desktop computer to take advantage of the suite's full potential. You may want to have updates installed to help tidy up and clarify the interface.

Pros

Navigating this system and setting up my business was less complex than quickbooks. It also helps that you’re able to transfer your business from quickbooks

Cons

I don’t have any negative issues with this system as of right now. Set up was pretty easy for me. So far so good

Accounting for small business

Xero is an all-in-one accounting software ideal for smaller business that needs reports on the fly and can't rely on a CPA on a monthly basis. At the most basic level, Xero allows users to create and send out invoices and reconcile bank feeds, ultimately creating P&L statements, balance sheet, and cash flow statements. It's relatively easy to learn although there is a steep learning curve.

Switched from Quickbooks & never looked back

Pros

Xero is very user friendly & was created to simplify syncing with your online banking applications.

Cons

I haven't noticed any issues but my old school accounting geek friends insist that there's nothing better than Quickbooks desktop. The only issues I've had is difficulty connecting with my small credit union when I open a new account there (but my accountant has always been able to fix that).

Straight forward, great visuals that are always spot on

This is a great product for businesses, for us, a business that has grown from 1-12 rather quickly it gives us accurate and quick data to enable our growth and vision strategy.

Pros

Having had the opportunity of seeing this product badly used we took time to set ours up early in the process. We really have a slick, easy to use system that provides as much detail as you could ever need - or in our case, a great and very simply dashboard!

Cons

I cannot find fault in this product, as a small enterprise it caters for our every needs

Average. the only reason I will recommend Xero would be the pricing. It's easy to navigate, however it's not as easy to use compare to QBO overall

Pricing is great for Xero, probably the cheapest for the industry.

Just not as robust as Quickbooks

I wish I'd just started with Quickbooks.

Pros

Honestly - not much. It's not intuitive to use, it was only a little less expensive than Quickbooks, and ultimately, not worth it when Quickbooks Online provides so much more value.

Cons

Everything is really difficult to navigate. Payroll (when it used to be offered) did not have direct deposit, 941 taxes could not be paid electronically, it was just a huge time suck for me.

I would recommend Xero to anyone looking for an online accounting platform, especially since it's the best double-entry accounting platform available for the price.

Pros

More powerful than QuickBooks Online with a better user interface.

Cons

Less powerful than QuickBooks Desktop. There are a number of features missing that have been missing for years and despite numerous "up votes" for those features to be put into place, Xero has yet to develop them. Just use Quickbooks

Not good - I switched back to Quickbooks almost immediately.

Pros

It has a nice, modern looking interface. It's not very expensive. Seems okay for someone with a very basic business and basic accounting knowledge.

Cons

It doesn't have very may advanced features. There was so many things I wanted to be there that were not. The reports are also not great.

I like that it's quite easy to use, and integrates with bank accounts to pull transactions through easily.

We had a custom API integration and Xero never upgraded the API, which forced us to switch to another company that updated and iterated on their API

Does what we need it to -- integrates with our other financial apps

We opted for Xero after using another accounting software product for 18 months. We have not regretted that decision since!

Pros

We went with Xero because it integrated with our other financial apps Quickbooks was our original accounting software, but we switched when we found Xero; it seemed to be more user friendly than Quickbooks

Cons

Our previous account software offered a much better native app product. Xero is convenient for the cloud-based service, but I (sometimes) miss the native app functionality of Quickbooks.

Great product for small business

We are a small company, but have a global audience. The ease of use and native multi-currency make me recomment this software highly.

Pros

Xero out of the box enables a small business to run its accounts in a professional manner and the many plugins allow for great automation. We are using multiple currencies and it works without a hitch. Linking directly to bank accounts to get and recon all the transactions is another winner.

Cons

It has quite a few limitations compared to the enterprise cousins, but at the price it is a no-brainer.

overall I found it was more difficult to use compared to Xero, so we went with Xero.

Pros

There were lots of features on the Quickbooks, there is also a demo company option that you can use to learn how to use quickbooks without making mistakes on your own accounts

Cons

The stock management system was not suitable of our business as we do not have stock.
