Our commitment
Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

Jam SQL Studio overview
What is Jam SQL Studio?
Jam SQL Studio is a cross-platform integrated development environment for SQL available for macOS, Windows, and Linux. It serves as an AI-native alternative to Azure Data Studio with support for Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle Database, Azure SQL, and SQLite. The platform combines traditional database development tools with AI-assisted workflows within a modern architecture designed for developer efficiency. It provides a unified interface for query writing, database exploration, and schema management across multiple database engines.
The query editor features context-aware code completion, real-time syntax and semantic validation, and visual execution plan rendering through tree and graph views. SQL notebook functionality supports interactive documents combining SQL, JavaScript, and Markdown for runbook and playbook creation. Built-in charting tools enable generation of bar, line, pie, area, and scatter charts from query results with export capabilities. A table explorer presents a spreadsheet-like view with advanced filtering, inline cell editing, foreign key navigation, and multi-format data export. The schema compare feature highlights structural differences and generates synchronization scripts, while data comparison identifies row changes and produces corresponding SQL scripts. Additional tools include script generation, transaction control modes, database and table cloning, dependency visualization, and a dashboard for monitoring active sessions and performance metrics.
AI integration operates through three mechanisms. The AI workspace synchronizes query tabs to SQL files and generates context files containing connection and schema information. A local Model Context Protocol server runs on localhost with bearer token security, enforcing read-only defaults, configurable policy levels, and audit logging for safe AI-driven operations. An integrated AI chat sidebar leverages a local AI command line interface installation to enable schema-aware assistance and interactive database conversations. A companion command line interface extends the local AI protocol server for terminal-based connection management and query execution.
Authentication options include SQL authentication, Windows authentication, and Microsoft Entra ID with multi-factor support and persistent token caching. Backup and restore functions support export and import of database backup packages and legacy file formats. A command palette enables fuzzy search across commands, database objects, and connections without leaving the keyboard. Workspace state persists automatically across sessions, preserving open tabs, queries, and connections. The interface offers semantic theming, dark mode, smooth animations, and familiar keyboard shortcuts. AI features remain disabled by default until explicitly enabled to ensure privacy and user control.
