Pros

It is an impressive open source software, really reliable. I love its PostGIS spatial module, which enables powerful geospatial functions.
After switching over from Access, it has been nice to be able to have a more robust experience.
It's a great relational database management system. It's open-source, free, reliable and secure.

Pros

The availability of this tool is fabulous and configuring setting up clusters is done in minutes. Also, the performance of this service is amazing, be it in any region, across the globe.
Ease of being able to access the information or saved documents of high importance. Love the fact you can connect with others and build great relationships with.
I love how easy and user friendly this software is. It is also very reliable and consistently just works.

Cons

Probably because of bad stats but from time to time the problem happens again.
Lot of features are missing from it as compared to the other products in the market.
I had skipped the few initial classes and missed the part where the professor taught how to use the app.

Cons

It is charged in dollar which makes it very expensive for people living in countries where the local currency is weak compared to the US dollar.
I dislike that it causes me to worry about privacy in regards to anything I upload. You never truly know where it's going or who has access when it goes to the cloud.
Navigation on the pages can be confusing at times and some information is not updated for the latest version.

Postgres - the standard for Cloud Database

Reviewed 2 years ago

Very good option for cloud migration perspective and cost wise is an excellent platform to go with any cloud

Pros

Postgres makes it very easy to bring in data from multiple SQL databases and data warehouses to have all in one place. This allows better data structure.

Cons

Nothing not to like about Postgres sql as it’s a great platform

PostgreSQL

One of the best open source databases available

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

Postgresql is open source and free and it gets regular updates. The software is the only database as a service which is supported by AWS, Google Cloud, Azure and Heroke - this gives you a lot of options. Super scalable and very flexible. It runs on all major platforms.

Cons

It is difficult to learn and master ... but that speaks to it's power. The tool set around it is complex - but again this is part of the package. If you want to learn postgres be prepared to work in the command line - that is part of the ecosystem. It is difficult but absolutely worth it.

I have used this database for small and limited time, but overall it seems like a promising database if cluster setup is done properly and can be used carefully in big data/cloud platform.

Pros

1) This database is scalable for big data/cloud platform. 2) Can be easily integrated with deepstream subscriber for real time data streaming purpose or cache data.

Cons

1) Queries are not always easy to find and build as keywords are different from other databases. 2) In some cases, performance may be a issue if database cluster is not set up properly.

The online community of postgres users is fantastic. I love being able to dive into answers from users who have used the tool more often than I.

Pros

There is a huge community of power users online and I feel like I can always get my questions answered with a quick google search.

Cons

There's not really anything that I dont like...maybe if Postgres hosted their own knowledgbase that contained their SQL operators.

PG is the future

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

PG is about as good as it gets. It's a fantastic database solution with every and any feature you could need. It's extensible and very reliable. PG is extremely fast and predictable. If you can get PG offered as a service while hosting your app in the cloud it's a no brainer.

Cons

I don't really have any complaints about PG. It can be difficult to upgrade between versions as it's quite strict with how it handles versioning and data, but this can be seen as a pro and not necessarily a con in tight infrastructure scenarios since it is so strict.

PostgreSQL as application database

Reviewed 5 years ago

We use PostgreSQL as our system database for the software we develop, we find it reliable, robust and with great performance, we use both PHP and C++ to access the dataabse.

Pros

PostgreSQL is a full featured SQL server solution. it is free and open-source, PostgreSQL can be installed on many different platform like Linux, Windows, macOS and other. being open-source if has lots of contribute tools from the open-source community providing wide range solutions, PostgreSQL is also available in the cloud from all the major providers.

Cons

Management is less comfortable and some settings needs to be done in PostgreSQL configuration files, also database schema management tool is not so comfortable, but you can use 3rd party tools for that also

Solid database, but not user (or even admin) friendly

Reviewed 3 years ago
Pros

It's a solid database tested over the years by half of the world. Whatever features you need it has it.

Cons

You'll often need to Google for the exact command you need to run, the docs are very dry and the syntax is unconventional. You'll suffer greatly trying to write code to access the database. If you want to upgrade, scale, or do anything significant with a large production database you're probably best off hiring a specialized consultant - it's risky and not easy.

PostgreSQL

Open source object-relational database management system for Web Developers

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

PostgreSQL or simply Postgres implements the SQL and advanced SQL standard very well. It can handle workloads ranging from small web applications to large data warehousing with many parallel users. Postgres provides a easy to use tool called pgAdmin to interact with and manipulate database. It provides support for complex data types like (multi-dimensional) Array, Json, user-defined types. PostgreSQL provides higher number of connections at cheap price. It support all types of indexing for faster retrieval of data. In my company we replaced our database server from MySQL to PostgreSQL because of PostgreSQL higher db connections connections in cheaper price as compared to MYSQL. It is also available free of cost till 10,000 rows on Heroku.

Cons

PostgreSQL query syntax for some complex queries like array, json, string functions and case operator are bit complicated to write . Installation and configuration of PostgreSQL is not as easy as MySQL. Documentation is not as good as compared to MySQL and it is bit harder to search for help regarding some complex queries and database functions on google. Replication is not yet as well implemented as in MySQL.

PostgresSQL Review

Reviewed a year ago
Pros

PostgreSQL is highly regarded for its robustness, scalability, and reliability, making it the perfect choice for businesses looking for a dependable and secure database. It has a wide array of features such as advanced indexing, support for stored procedures and triggers, as well as a wide array of data types, making it ideal for creating complex applications. It also supports an extensive range of languages and tools, making it easy to use for developers and administrators. Additionally, PostgreSQL has high availability and fault tolerance, making it suitable for mission-critical environments. Furthermore, PostgreSQL can be used in the cloud, making it an ideal solution for businesses looking for a reliable and secure database solution.

Cons

PostgreSQL can be a challenging platform to learn, especially for beginners. Its steep learning curve, complex structure, and lack of user-friendly documentation make it difficult to get started. Furthermore, troubleshooting and debugging can be difficult, causing even more frustration for those just starting out.

GCP - Super Computing power

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

The Google BigQuery feature is the most precious tool in the platform. It can perform queries on a database that is several TB's in storage in a matter of seconds and minutes. It can perform join operations on huge datasets, editing schemas is very easy, no painful migration processes.

Cons

Does have some weird constraints like, columns names should have not spaces, number precision requirement, and does not provide every single feature as that of PostgreSQL or MySQL.
