Cision Pricing Reviews

Pros
  • It's cheap but that's probably the only good thing about it. It's hard to download the lists but I'm told you can?
  • This is a great affordable solution for those monitoring their media (and social media) mentions and you're on a budget.
  • Lots of great media contacts for all categories from technology to finance, consumer products to juvenile goods and everything in between.
  • Cision is the most popular media database out there. It has the ability to do a lot of things. You can search for all types of media contacts, build lists, etc.
Cons
  • It's expensive. I get that it is hard to keep these lists current with all the movement and magazine closings...
  • My experience is mixed, however, as I find it a bit hard to use for basics like searching or building a list. It's also expensive. I'd consider alternatives before purchasing.
  • The cost is obviously a bit prohibitive but they have volume discounts. The process of uploading a release can also be a bit daunting with so many things and add-ons that you can use.
  • The limited capabilities. We really needed something that automated more of what we do (email, social media, press releases, blog writing, analytics) all in one place. We ended up only using Vocus to send press releases, which wasn't worth the high price.

Not many.PRWeb and PRNewswire market share drove our usage (we got upsold into trying Cision Cloud). There is some value in having filterable media contact lists....but not at their price points.

I'm so disappointed with all of the people I've encountered at Cision over the past 18 months. This is a great affordable solution for those monitoring their media (and social media) mentions and you're on a budget.

Customer when it was Vocus, have since cancelled

Too expensive for our organization. We loved the PR capabilities and saw a lot of traction on our content, but it wasn't worth the high cost compared to how frequently we needed to use the software's capabilities. We've since canceled our PR subscription and now send emails via My Emma and HubSpot marketing software.

Customer service is great, and the price is worth it. I love using this product, and hopefully it will give me even more options in the future to get my company out there. As a travel company, we have to work hard to stay in the spotlight to compete with online bookings. We found a couple companies that would prefer using us, so it was quite helpful.

I liked our ability to send press releases and manage social media from the same account. However, other software offered more options and automation features in one central location.

Access to tens of thousands of journalists is useful as a PR practitioner. It also does a great job of tracking insights like tone and monitoring where your organization appears in the news.
