Clearly a good choice for our church's texting

Pros

Clearstream makes texting people in our church easy. We set up keywords with auto replies for signing up for text notifications, membership class, etc. The longcode included with the plan made it easy for people to contact our church via text.

Cons

Setting up the menu was a little bit complicated.

Review of clearstream vs. other planning center text options

They were pleasant and helpful.

Pros

This text option allows us to pay as we want to text thus keeping our costs low. We didn't want a monthly option as we will primarily use system to notify church members of church cancellations. Paying for it each month is a waste of money. That's the primary reason why we went with clearstream and not text-in-church. The service works well and we used it just recently for a New England snow storm.

Cons

There are some features that are not as intuitive to find. But fortunately their help (chat or email) is great, the people are very responsive. For example, I couldn't find how to determine who 'stop' their txt messages. I could see the number of people but how do I find out who those people are. They have a solution it just wasn't intuitive. You have to export the list, but it would be much easier if they number of stopped people was highlighted as a link then bam, click the link and get the info. Also, when trying to resynch data between planning center and clearstream. Again, their support helped me but it's just not intuitive on where to find the answer. Once you know, you know.

Clearstream is fast, affordable, and effective. I have used other texting services such as text-in-church in the past. Clearstream beats them by a landslide.

Pros

Very easy to utilize because of it's integration with planning center. As a student pastor, it's so important to be able to communicate with students in an effective and timely manner. Being able to utilize our church system with clear stream as a major communication vehicle makes life and ministry more effective and easier than ever before.

Cons

Clear stream is very simple to use. I have found that if you do run into a road block, their FAQs and customer service is outstanding - all you have to do is ask.

I enjoy the way it integrates with our current church database. It makes it easy to text the individuals that I want to text.

Cons

I enjoy most of the features. I wish there was the ability to send emails. It would make things easier to have a workflow where I can send both text and emails.

Overall this is a great product!!!

Pros

This makes it easy to mass text everyone in our list. It integrates well with our church database software. I like that it won't create duplicate texts if someone is on several lists. The customer service is spectacular!!

Cons

I wish we had more subaccounts without paying the extra monthly fee. We are on a smaller plan and we don't need more messages, but more subaccounts would be useful.

In looking at many text messaging solutions for our church and multiple ministries, Clearstream was the obvious choice. It gives us what we want without breaking the bank. It also allows for flexibility in how we use the service which is what our ministry needs.

Pros

Easy to use and well documented. Great customer support covers any additional questions that may not be intuitive or documented. Pricing is reasonable and fair.

Cons

No major cons other than it can be unclear at first as to what "counts" as a message credit.

Amazing Service, Amazing Company

Would recommend 10/10. I met the team at Exponential, and they were GREAT to work with.

Pros

We are a church plant with alot of college students, and we've found that email is not nearly as effective as text in communication. This was a GAME CHANGER. We use it in our guest follow up process, pushing out pandemic updates, and staying connected with our Launch Team.

Cons

I wish the mobile app gave me full functionality like the desktop admin page. Other than that, it's incredible.

Increasing our reach through text messaging

For a while, our church has struggled with an effective communication strategy that includes text messaging. Clearstream has solved that problem for us. We have been able to automate much of our workflows and increase our overall engagement rate by incorporating text messaging into our on-boarding process for newcomers.

Pros

Clearstream is simple to use, their customer service has been fantastic, and for our church, the way Clearstream integrates with Planning Center Online has been a game-changer.

Cons

Some of the pricing tiers don't line up exactly with our needs. For example, in order to get more keywords or subaccounts, we also have to pay for more text messages, which we don't necessarily need. It would be nice to be able to have a bit more selection over which features we pay for.

Excellent mass texting system

Clearstream has been faster and easier to use than our previous system and the integration with Planning Center is helping us keep trach of what's going on in our church.

Pros

Ease of use and setup was a big thing for us. This product accomplished that. Integration with social media was a huge plus. Integration with Planning Center was a very big deal for us. We can text the church and have them sign up for events simply by replying to the text with a keyword. Very very awesome.

Cons

The software is unable to send media like pictures and videos. I have been told this feature is on the feature request list, though. If you run out of credits, it is VERY expensive to buy additional credits for the month.

This software simplifies communications in our church among members and visitors and ministry friends!

Cons

That using a graphic quickly consumes credits. We had traditionally sent texts that included info on an image and would reinforce with additional text. It would be great for this to be included at no extra cost especially for churches with smaller budgets.

My Limited Experience

[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] and his counterpart are great. They are knowledgeable about the product, patient, friendly and I love when the make a short video to show me what to do on my end.

Pros

My ratings may have been more about me and not your software. I've only been using this software for a limited time and still in the steep learning curve. We don't have a clear process owner in our church for this software, so it's confusing at time who I need to talk for changes, expanded usage, etc. With that said - I like the software and sending text to our church attendees. Like the fact you can set it up for a future delivery. Just learned how to attach a video for our Christmas Eve Services and that was great. Looking forward to seeing how else we might use this software to assimilate with our church members.

Cons

Can't see who I sent a message to from my end. With several subscribers list and messages I sometimes can't remember who I sent what to. Don't like idea I have to input a long list of subscribers into Planning Center than import into Clearstream. I'm a Fellowship One Champion and now have to learn yet another software until we make decision on what we are going to have as our main database.

My least favorite thing is the “header” I want to be more creative and really catch people eyes when they receive a text from us. When it says “City Church:” at the very beginning that blows my cover and they may not read the whole message.

We love Clearstream!

We use Clearstream to send Prayer Requests and Announcements. We have heard very few negatives from our congregation. Those with a problem do not text, or they only have a home phone. In a congregation of 200+, those issues represent 2-3% of our church. On a grand scale, it has been a great success.

Pros

I cannot say enough good things about Clearstream. We had been using a Phone Call system that was becoming quite cumbersome, so we knew we needed to switch. Clearstream made it so easy to implement and have continued success. Our church loves receiving text messages instead of calls that interrupt the day.

Cons

The only con we had when purchasing Clearstream was the potential issue with character limits on texts. Thankfully, they mitigated that by implementing "Notes". Now we can send texts, adding a note, without using more credits.

Excellent tool for keeping church members connected

Pros

Helps keep church members connected through weekly text reminders for our live stream. Members can reply with a quick hello to let us know they have joined. Shortcode allows us to send the link to the online connection card that is seamlessly integrated with planning center.

Cons

It would be great if there was a simple way to forward a text to a long code to a group. We collect prayer requests via long code and I would like to have those texts automatically forwarded to my prayer team via text.
