DisasterLAN overview

What is DisasterLAN?

Buffalo Computer Graphics’ DisasterLAN (DLAN) software is a mobile-friendly, web-based platform for emergency preparedness & response, event management, and daily operations. It includes tools for customizable dashboards, ESRI-based GIS mapping, ticketing, asset & finance tracking, Incident Action Plans (IAPs) & Situation Reports creators, document & contact management, and after-action reporting.

All areas of DLAN are accessible on any mobile browser that fully supports JavaScript, session-based cookies, HTML 5 technologies, and other modern web browser features. Some mobile devices that support DLAN natively (i.e. no app required) include Apple iOS devices, Windows Mobile devices, and Android devices.

In addition to mobile-browser support, DLAN includes a Mobile Responder App that can be downloaded for offline use. The app stores data locally until a connection can be re-established; it then automatically syncs information with the DLAN system. The app is designed for iOS, Android, and Windows and is available from the Apple App store, Google Play store, or directly from BCG.

The App’s simple form interface makes it ideal for damage assessment, debris management, and spot reports from field staff. The App’s assigned task mode helps field workers quickly manage assignments. When they first sign in for a shift, all the information needed to complete their assigned tasks are downloaded on to their device. This means even if their connection is lost, they will be able to continue working.

Offline functionality and assigned task mode, helps field staff keep working no matter where they are located. The App also allows managers to track staff locations. Since there are no per user fees, the Mobile Responder App can be used to create an unlimited number of tracking devices at no additional cost.
