Accountant II - Time & Billing

When first introduced to Kantata, I was unfamiliar with the process flow and quickly became confused by the different levels (Opportunity, engagement, scope, element, etc.).

QA Lead

Kantata feels powerful and enterprise-ready, especially for agencies or services teams that need visibility into resourcing and financials. When it’s well configured, it gives leadership-level clarity, but it does require discipline and admin effort to keep setups consistent and reporting trustworthy.

Consultant

In practice, this is very valuable when managing multiple engagements simultaneously.

Kantata PSA puts an end to unpredictable projects so professional services teams always deliver amazing.

They say frequent re-typing, lack of bulk editing, and multi-step processes slow down their workflow. Some users find that error messages and the inability to easily correct mistakes add frustration. Others mention that missing features like auto-fill, select all, and bulk upload make routine data entry tasks time-consuming and inefficient.

Comprehensive project oversight

Marketing Manager

I love it a lot, from creating and assigning tasks to tracking the time spent on each activity and managing resources, I can have a more complete view of my projects in real time.

It integrates really well with Jira and makes time tracking/project burn tracking really easy across functional teams.

Senior Account Coordinator

There are a lot of tasks that require multiple steps and with that needing double checked once complete, which can sometimes feel like you don't have time to manage other responsibilities because there are so many steps with project creation.

Managing Director

I am writing this message, while the heating unit located in my office is clicking, clicking, clicking I’m glad your Kanban boards moved when I clicked on them, I was afraid they would be extremely slow and therefore annoying.

I also like that it makes capacity planning more concrete, especially when multiple projects are competing for the same people.

This would be a great resource for a small account, but it tends to get tedious with big accounts with a high volume of projects.

It can also be expensive for smaller teams with lighter operational needs

SR. HR Operations Specialist

The reporting tools are helpful and give good visibility into what’s going on.

Not having to open 5 Tabs at the same time to see the budget and billing information is a plus.

Assistant

Some cons for using Kantata are it can be expensive for smaller businesses and it is challenging to use when you are a new user.

I think the email notifications are way too many unless you turn them off completely.

accountancy

It has made it easier for me to assign tasks to each of my colleagues to ultimately bring them together in a single project and be able to make better decisions based on real graphs and thus reduce the final delivery time of each project.

I can keep track of time, which is what has helped me deliver tasks faster than the final delivery date and keep track of projects to manage the good and bad things to fix.

Administration

Love the features such as task management and the fact it is useful for business of any size

Director of Developer Experience

To be fair, this is not about Kantata but the integration. While well done, Kantata replicates all comments from Jira and that leads to duplicate comments and notifications.

Solutions Engineer

Setting up and running reports was easy and very essential to manage teams and project teams.

Entering the number of hours worked per employee was easy and quick.

Agent

The disadvantages of kantata are that it does not have a free version and despite the easy access of its user interface, the latter remains a little customizable

It offered a wide range of functionalities that catered to various aspects of software development, including code management, version control, and collaboration.

Game Programmer

The opportunity to centralize all of our initiatives in one place and provide individualized reports that tracked our development in relation to our key performance indicators is something we are really grateful for.

I can develop multiple projects at the same time, managing to advance faster in each one without confusion.

The software proved to be a valuable asset in managing code, collaborating with team members, and ensuring version control. While there was a learning curve associated with some advanced features, the software's capabilities justified the initial investment of time and effort.

Project Coordinator

Some basic features lack customisation and could use with better enhancements.

Head of Group Operations

Easy task management with lots of capabilities, time and expense tracking that is simple.

From an overall user perspective, the system can be quite clunky to use without adequate training which has caused some hiccups.

Program manager

Great to track / approve timesheets and allocate resources in your plan

Well, the platform allows me customization to a certain extent, there may be limitations in terms of completely adapting to the more specific needs of certain organizations.
