Pros

When I have spoken to a tech they have been excellent in understanding my question and providing a solution. At times working outside the box to create the best result with the conditions present.
Overall we are happy with performance and support from LightSpeed. It's reliable and with the small amount of problems we have we are pleased.
We love how easy this was to set up. It does not require buying $20,000 worth of equipment like our first POS system did back in 2008.

Pros

Overall they have a nice POS interface and it is pretty stable. Their pricing is also pretty good for the base system.
The bets thing about Revel apart from the easy to use interface is the support team - I have been super impressed with the help I have received in setting up my new POS Revel system.
Was a great price and it integrated seamlessly with my QuickBooks Online software.

Cons

For example, today is a Friday and there have been 2 MAJOR OUTAGES in one day. Ultimately, this results in a terrible customer experience and literally costs thousands of dollars over time.
This POS system is terrible for retail shops doing anything more than a standard sale. It's unintuitive, confusing, easy to make errors and very frustrating.
Limited options for payment processing, having to go with a non integrated payment was frustrating, and we were also limited with payment processing options for our eCommerce site.

Cons

Then they're arrogant as hell about it. Don't even get me started on how painful, slow and counter-intuitive the backend is.
Terminals went out of sync with each other and caused major problems with ordering and reports, affected customer service. Every time Apple does an update the system does not work (2-3 times a year).
Terrible Company and even worst with the way they conduct their selves. Their sales reps are liars and only care about making the initial sale.

Pros

There isn't much I like about the systems ease of use.

Cons

It is impossible to speak to any customer service representatives. All they do as an attempt for customer service is to send you articles to read which have nothing to do with the issue you are having.

We have had a great experience with Lightspeed. It gives us the reports that we need to run the business efficiently. The waitstaff can easily take orders and payments without any problems.

Pros

Easy setup with great support from staff. Great reporting capability. Easy to set up users, products, etc. Great support staff who will help with any and all issues at any time. Can handle almost any need that a restaurant has.

Cons

Longer learning curve than some other systems but with practice is becomes easy to use.

Fairly simple to setup and use compared with other systems we've tried.

Cons

Impossible to customize much to your needs. We've requested right from the start a feature addition to allow for fractions of cents in inventory with no traction yet. Other customizations would be helpful, too.

Exceptional, having worked with many other pos systems in my career, this is by far and away the easiest and most efficient to use and train on as well. I highly suggest anyone thinking about buying or switching pos systems to give Lightspeed a try, you won't regret it!!

Easy to use, easy to figure out, easy to train employees, easy to get help from the support team... All around a real easy win for us and our new business!!

We used QuickBooks POS for years and when it was time to upgrade we went with REVEL based on their recommendation, NOT a good choice. The system didn't do many of the things that we had specifically asked for and was not a good transition for our retail shop. And so we began our research into a new POS system. We met with numerous vendors, asked tons of questions and finally had to bite the bullet...

Pros

We were able to use the computers we already had. The help that is available right on the site or easily by contacting Lightspeed is wonderful. Easy to use.

Cons

The only thing I would say is that there are some features that would be nice, but can't really call it a Con since Lightspeed listens to its users and is always making upgrades and changes.

LightSpeed POS is wonderful ecommerce software that connects your retail and website easily to manage inventory, customers info, orders, shipping info, sales reports etc. LightSpeed for iPhone made everything handy. Even today I heard that it introduced POS for restaurants, coffee shops and bars. How business friendly POS Software it is. I appreciate it.

Cons

It fetches data between systems more easily. The LightSpeed-QuickBooks Integration is what i like most. It helped in business accounting automation really very easy.

Pros

You can schedule tee times on one side and then go into retail for the pro-shop so you don't have to jump systems

Cons

Slow, complex to program, not integrated with restaurant at all so you have to have separate log ins and it takes too long

Inventory and customer management were the big game changes for us, before this we had many decentralized systems that didn't talk to each other.

Pros

Great all-in-one system for sales, employee and customer management, gift cards, inventory, purchase orders, and more! Exporting to Quickbooks is a breeze.

Cons

They have great basic reports, but you have to pay more for more detail analytics reports.

Lightspeed has saved me hours of time by integrating multiple systems. I really swear by this product! It has helped me grow my business.

Pros

Its ease of use is probably the number one factor, but it is followed by the live inventory on the internet. The program is continuously evolving and improving and the staff has been great!

Cons

The only real draw back I see is that there is no offline function.

Cons

I wish there was a way to email an invoice to someone and have them be able to pay it online. Seems like all other systems can do that.

Beside the small issues, I am very happy with lightspeed, makes my job easier and they have a great customer service.

Pros

It is easy to learn and they are very good helping when help is need it. The reports are useful and make the accounting and inventory systems easy.

Cons

has a small issues like the cents do not round or the look of the sale screen for the PC is not like the one for MAC or an Ipad.

We opened a small retail store and in the first 3 months went through 2 other POS systems. We had not chosen Lightspeed initially because of poor reviews. However, after using two other systems which couldn't do half of what we needed, Lightspeed was a delightful surprise. We haven't had any of the problems we had heard about and have consistently had good service and results with the program.

Pros

Flexible, robust. Has ability to do layaway, discounts, full item descriptors.

Cons

Some features must be done in the back office. Layaway can be a little complicated to complete from the sales register.

Pros

Cloud-based ability to work on inventory at home. I spent 6 months researching dozens of POS systems and it was the only one that had all the features our bookstore needed.

Cons

Frequent outages, especially during busy times at our store. We've lost thousands in sales the past few months due to server problems on Lightspeed's end. They don't seem to have the money or qualified staff to implement infrastructure changes quickly and competently.

Over all, I have always liked to way the system has operated, The functions and the data inputting controls are easier than most other DMS systems that i have tried.

Pros

I have always like the way the system is produced from the Service personnel's prospective & The way CDK tries to customize the product for each of the specific user's or Locations.

Cons

I think this system could be improved by having the ability to communicate with & Be programed with available patches to adapt the system to communicate and share info with all other outside vendor's and the coinciding systems that they use. Overall it is a great program. The shortfalls in the eStore is a handoff for the ease of use in the retail and the integrating of inventory between the two systems.

Pros

Integrated inventory makes life easier.

Cons

Doesn't allow for enough variety per product in online store; and the drop down menu doesn't always match the photo that pops up per product making the customer interaction somewhat confusing. I've requested a system upgrade for this for over two years with no avail.

Truly the best POS out there, they just get it.

Pros

As a nonprofit it's mandatory we are in compliance with General Accepted Accounting Principles. We have complex inventory logistics with different locations which made finding a good solution, difficult at the very least. I wish we could have found them earlier, better marketing online would have saved us so much time, money and resources from getting drawn in from other POS systems that continued to come up short.

Overall, we are thrilled with lightspeed and would recommend it all day long.

Pros

This is my first restaurant ipad based POS system and we love it! It is very intuitive and easy to navigate. Employees training period is very short compared to other "old school" pos systems. Lots of great features!

Cons

The reporting could be more thorough. There are some missed opportunities for lightspeed to be a "one stop shop" software.

Pros

Initially we had problems getting support because they were very short-staffed. However they have done a lot to improve this aspect and I am confident that every time we call our support person will respond quickly and be able to solve our problem.

Cons

It was a little more difficult to implement than some other systems, so more of a learning curve for users. Also there are some product features that have some limitations at the moment but I think they will be resolved.

Tons of functionality,

We have been using this platform for 18 months, so I waited a while to do the review. This system is very powerful, and really was the only system that checked all the boxes for us. We probably demoed 10 systems after going through an initial screening of other cloud based POS systems. We have recently added the analytics plug which is really next level. I will say the reporting that was included is par for most POS systems but did leave a lot to be desired. Now with the addition of the plug its mind blowing! Set up team was great as well, very helpful. We have not taken advantage of the integrated web hosting, but only because we are so entrenched and we are not ready to take on that task.

Pros

Cloud based, tons of functionality, add ed the Analytics platform takes it to the next level. easy work flows

Cons

Its always a little challenging to implement a new software after years of work on other platform, however once all the nuances were mastered...works great

We recently switched to the Revel system from an older POS. While there was a slight learning curve for our employees it was very slight and has run smooth. Since installing Revel the amount of information garnered from the system has already begun to transform our business for the better. I would highly recommend Revel to anyone that is looking for quality software that will bring them to the next level in their retail establishment.

Pros

Ease of use, back office software, Cloud based.

Cons

Many items for retail are not turned on immediately.

Same system used for different areas of our business where we had different POS systems in past. Easier for administration, bookeeping, etc.

Pros

Offers both retail and restaurant versions of software that works for our company, which includes a retail operation (winery & brewery) as well as a separate cafe operation.

Cons

"CRM" customer management is lacking on the management side; purchase reporting only available for periods of 12 months rather than entire history for customer. Reports auto load prior to dates being entered; spend a lot of time waiting for a report to load to then enter actual period wanted for report.Features removed during updates (no longer have receipt option when comping items; for winery/brewery operations we comp out bottles used for tastings on a daily basis and used these receipts routinely, only to have the feature disappear with an update).Quite expensive for our seasonal business; we need several stations during busy months but have to pay quite a bit even when several are not used during slow months.

Revel Systems POS is a very powerful tool that is well-supported, constantly undergoing updates and improvements (and that our salesman and installer have been very easy to work with!) I have generally found tech support to be responsive and they have usually always helped me resolve any issues.

Pros

The retail, restaurant and quick service platforms that we use in our establishments are designed with those unique industries in mind, and the system is powerful enough to handle close to 10K inventory items in retail; dozens of employees in retail and restaurant establishments; and even a quick service environment where hard-wired Internet service is not feasible. We have had a great experience with our salesman, installer and tech support throughout our relationship with Revel.

Cons

The off-the-shelf Revel POS system is not a custom system made to a customer's exact specifications, although Revel does offer that service for additional cost. Customers should know what their needs are before implementing the system. The system is based on a columnar, spreadsheet, model, and for many installations that may result in the user interface having several layers of menu screens that need to be negotiated in order to retrieve a menu item. The system is pretty flexible, however, and offers the means to work with a huge number of inventory items in a wide variety of platforms (hospitality, retail, mobile.)

It is on line, very versatile, seems more suitable for restaurants than retail. Customer Service staff has a great attitude.

Cons

No f2f support was provided, all the implementation and initial set up was intuitive, over the phone. Not all the functionality offered was in place, nor working properly. Doing set up as we were learning the system. The sales representative did not provide any advise, nor fulfilled their promises. Total lack of commitment. Has many features which can be used as in advanced way with technology . More use full for retail shops

Cons

Some complications . Mistakes cannot be corrected and anything created cannot be deleted. Inventory management is difficult task in restaurant operations

Revel is so close to being really great, I just wish it had a little more focus placed on the retail environment.

Pros

It is the only tablet-based POS system that has a robust inventory system. Lots of reporting options. clear desire for cost/expense tracking built in. For small issues, the support team is very responsive, particularly if you call on the phone.

Cons

The inventory functionality seems better for high quantity but low sku count businesses, we have a low quantity but high sku count business and its weaknesses show through in our environment. The App keeps taking simple tasks and when it is "upgraded" there just seem to be more button presses added.

Total Disappoinment

I'd stay away from this system and this company. I'm a small business owner and I've spent more time trying to get Revel to fix their POS (point of sale) than I have running my own business. I will soon cut my losses and find an alternative solution. I promise, this company will drive you to extreme frustration. Finally, I recommend paying a little extra for a better Poiny of Sale system, you will find it's cheaper in the long run than trying to use Revel.

Pros

Very Powerful Database for retail store once you have all your prices and inventory entered. The POS is easy to use after (only after) set up.

Cons

1. Despite previous positive reviews for customer service, they are terrible! They are great for explaining how to use the product, they are terrible for fixing their own product! 2. ALSO, DO NOT USE FOR E-COMMERCE! The web order feature (e-commerce) is useless and looks even worse. Prepare to explain your problem repeatedly when using support. You will be transferred from one tier of support...

Easy to Use and a Real Time Saver

We upgraded to Revel from an old cash register and it makes the overall process of managing our retail store easier than ever!

Pros

Easy to use, integrates easily into Quickbooks online for easy bookkeeping, easy to train new employees

Cons

The initial setting up of the wireless network was somewhat cumbersome, but once we got it hooked up it hasn't skipped a beat.

This is a good product for retail sales and the lesson over the phone are very helpful. When I had any questions after the lessons given, I was able to call or email my questions. Looks good, but does not communicate with Quick Books

Cons

Revel lies with how it works with Quick Books. It has cost me thousands of dollars and countless hours trying to make it work. Do not buy it for retail.

Vast improvements

I have been using Revel POS for our family business for just over a year. The software has been great from the beginning ,but the customer support and tech support was very poor quality. Over the past year it has made a big turn around. I would now recommend this software to anyone wanting to get a robust POS.

Pros

This has been the only system I had found that supports both a retail and full service restaurant. And they appear to be staying up to date with where the markets are trending.

Cons

This is a large amount of data and features, so I sometime have a hard time finding the features that I need and how to use them despite their great help site and tech support.
