Pros

When I have spoken to a tech they have been excellent in understanding my question and providing a solution. At times working outside the box to create the best result with the conditions present.
Overall we are happy with performance and support from LightSpeed. It's reliable and with the small amount of problems we have we are pleased.
We love how easy this was to set up. It does not require buying $20,000 worth of equipment like our first POS system did back in 2008.

Pros

What's great about Shopify is that it is constantly improving and the costs remain the same. I'm sure that any issues I have now will only get smaller or fully solved.
Shopify has been great as a shopper because it helps me have all of my information in one place.
Also the way that the hands held card reader is shaped is very nice. The software itself integrates smoothly with my Shopify store, and it runs perfectly.

Cons

For example, today is a Friday and there have been 2 MAJOR OUTAGES in one day. Ultimately, this results in a terrible customer experience and literally costs thousands of dollars over time.
This POS system is terrible for retail shops doing anything more than a standard sale. It's unintuitive, confusing, easy to make errors and very frustrating.
Limited options for payment processing, having to go with a non integrated payment was frustrating, and we were also limited with payment processing options for our eCommerce site.

Cons

Inability to set up a variable-priced item. To do this, the item must be rung in as a "Quick Sale", so there is no identification of sold products or inventory tracking.
If I had to complain it would be that there are some things you can't customize that you might be able to with one of the self hosted carts such as magento, woocommerce, or even magento 2.
The customer support is abysmal. Shopify screwed up the tax rates.

Pros

The company I set this up for had many different custom needs that other POS systems could not handle. They had a Shopify store and needed a POS system that could keep up. Their store was very large with over 20,000 SKUs that Shopify alone could not handle.

Cons

It took another company to do all of the set up into Shopify and that took a very long time to do. We were not expecting such a long set up of the tool.

I've been using Lightspeed for about three weeks now and am completely satisfied with the customer service and support of the software so far. I looked into so many different companies but it seems that Lightspeed was the only one that had a strong presence not only in-store but online. I needed both to be equally strong. The customer service is 100% legit. The fact that Lightspeed can literally make changes for you is amazing. It's simple and easy to understand. The navigation is pretty straight forward. So far, I feel extremely confident about Lightspeed and it's ability to catapult my business into the 21st century. Also the fact that they don't charge for training and customer support is another winner!

Pros

1. 24 hour support at no additional charge 2. Easy to navigate POS and Inventory System 3. Online Store is attractive and competes with aesthetics of Shopify 4. Gift card enabled 5. Easy inventory tracking and ordering 6. Customer Rewards Program Avail.

Cons

1. Price is a bit steep, but you get what you pay for. 2. If you're not technologically savvy then it may be a hurdle. 3. Not too friendly for non-english speaking business owners. 4. Have to pay to use iPad and desktop as two registers, as in you can't use them both simultaneoulsy.

Does exactly what it's meant to do

Lightspeed as a POS for retail is great. When I started my position they were using a server based POS system which didn't work for the growth of the business to Amazon, Ebay and our two Shopify stores. I absolutely love lightspeed - they have great customer service and I know that if anything happens it will be fixed quickly. Highly recommend!

Pros

Easy to use and great customer service. Cannot ask for a better product

Cons

The one thing I wish this product would do is be able to run the custom fields we have in a report.

The more I get into it the more I like it. It is multifaceted without being over complicated. For the most part, it is very intuitive and I can usually go to the help area and find instructions or a video to answer my questions. If you are looking for a user-friendly POS make sure to include Lightspeed in your research.

Pros

Intuitive program. Versatile without being complex. Good inventory management system.

Cons

You can have up to 5 users but only one POS at a time can be operated unless you pay $ more for an additional POS license.

It is our transaction POS system.

Pros

We like that Lightspeed is cloud based. We also like that it integrates with lots of other applications (scheduling, ecomm, etc). Also Lightspeed is awesome at inventory management.

Cons

Reporting. Lightspeed Reporting is incomplete and very buggy. Yet it is over 4 years old. As a company they are expending very little resources on making reporting work better. Their answer is to try to sell you Lightspeed Analytics. An OEM version of Looker. Yet Lightspeed Analytics appears to have not been updated in over a year. It is also incomplete and buggy. Lightspeed management team, you would never accept that quality from your CRM vendor (Salesforce?). So why do you expect your customers to put up with incomplete and buggy reporting?

Support varies from 5 minutes to 5 hours, rarely on the 5-minute side. Don't expect instant assistance when you have a customer standing in front of you and tech support is required for a POS problem - not going to happen. Be aware that their sales staff will promise anything, but they are scarce when you have a real problem. I was promised an online solution for my gallery, it wasn't delivered....

Nightmare customer service

Worst experience ever with any POS company.

Pros

I didn't get to use this product at all so I don't have any pros.

Cons

The agents have no idea what they're talking about. I asked my agent multiple times if this system would work for the loyalty program we have implemented in store and I was told yes every time. So I bought into the system, spend hundreds. They refused to refund me even though it was their fault I bought into a system that would not work for me. Then they told me not to worry about sending back the terminal, because it was a free part of their promotion and now they're trying to tell me I have to pay in full for the terminal. AVOID!

Honestly, although I used this product for 4 years, I realize I could have found a more economical program that does everything I need without additional fees. I have no pros at this juncture.

Cons

Small business owners beware. If you hit a financial brick wall and have to close your business, they DO NOT HAVE A CANCELLATION CLAUSE. They will go after you for the full amount of the remaining contract. You are paying for a POS and they charge extra for a website. You can combine both for way cheaper with Square or Shopify, for example.

Warning to all, Lightspeed is a shady company!

The following day he called back and said it looks like the sales rep never specifically said "We integrate with Miva" so we can’t break the contract without charging a fee. I felt this is acceptable as I knew there were credit card transaction fees that should be covered and such. Once asked how much, he said he would call back. We loved Lightspeed and advocated for them in the beginning. The disappointment in their customer service and the system breakages and downtime was devastating to our business. The customer service we received when their system was crashing was the worst customers service I have experienced in any industry. They denied system crashes or feature breakages, for days before acknowledging them. We tolerated alot from them because they used to be so good! But, it started to cost us a lot of lost sales, and when they couldn't process credit cards for days, that was the end...

Good foundation. Simple to use POS with valuable connected integrations.

Cons

Customer service used to be outstanding. In a few short years, it provided some of the worst customers service I have experience in any industry. I can confidently saw even our basic employees/user understood the system better than ANY of the customer service reps from Lightspeed.

BEWARE of TRANSITIONING to LIGHTSPEED from SHOPKEEP!!!!!

I am extremely upset that Lightspeed contacted me after they purchased Shopkeep to encourage me to move to Lightspeed and left me with a non-usable inventory system. The data transition has been an absolute nightmare rendering my point of sale system unable to produce accurate reports or even give a correct value of my inventory. Absolutely unacceptable that an inventory system cannot give you a correct inventory number.

Pros

The integration of their POS and e-commerce is awesome.

Cons

Transition of data from Shopkeep to Lightspeed (at Lightspeed’s suggestion) was an absolute HORROR.

It was a GREAT experience for all. The Local vendor could monitor all sales easily.

Pros

We partnered with a local vendor to sell retail items at our Yoga Studio. This option enabled us to carry a larger selection of items without having to manage or pay for the inventory. Shopify enable us to handle the POS plus the inventory management. It's ability to show images and bar codes made training the Front Desk staff simple.

Cons

It was another software solution for our Front Desk staff.... BUT it reduced our losses in Retail,,, actually we made money in Retail with out the costs.

While we have not used other PoS software, Shopify PoS does a great job for us. All features we need, none that we don't, and an intuitive UI.

Overall experience is very satisfactory and does all the things that we have expected out of a POS system. I would definitely recommend it to someone who has an online Shopify store and a retail store to sync the data and leverage the power of Shopify in analytics, order management, and inventory management with multiple locations

Pros

The most important feature of this product is it syncs the retail store orders with your online store and keeps the order management easy. It also takes care of payment processing and sales reports. We can use multi-location in Shopify to differentiate the inventory between the online store and the retail store.

Cons

I have remembered that there were some issues/limitations on the Shopify side when it came to refunding some of the orders and we can't find the order by the customer name, in such scenarios, It could have been better when the customer don't have their credit card or email with them

Shopify was a very simple product to learn. It was simple to reach to others so that there could be many working on a entering products. We went from an really old computer software that only allowed one person to input inventory. Shopify made that work very easy to do.

Pros

After being out of retail for a few years, shopify was simply easy to use and to teach to others.

Cons

It was hard to check on human erros. Although it was simple to use checking if items were put in correct tok time.
