Paypal has been used with Quickbooks Online and Xero as a method for allowing customers to pay invoices quickly with bank card or PayPal account. It's convenient however the fees can rack up and are alot higher than other solutions, e.g. GoCardless.
Widely supported with various accounting packages for online on-demand payment collection. Reports available in CSV etc. It's a recognised brand and improves customer trust in paypal platform.
Reports can be abit confusing to get your head around. When funds are deposited to Paypal from an Invoice etc, the funds just sit in PayPal and are not automatically withdrawn to your account. Fees are quite extortionate.

PayPal is easy to use and accepted in lots of places, although for small businesses it's really not the best payment option and I'd recommend against accepting it because it's so expensive!
Easy to use and widely accepted, plus can pay with card or direct from bank account which is handy..
It's so expensive! And there's really no reason for it, other than you're paying for the name I guess. Alternatives like Stripe, GoCardless and SumUp are far better, and the first two integrate with Xero for online/customer-not-present and Direct Debit.

Although a good product painful to get verified and customer service non existent

Dashboard easy to use good for cash flow and easy of collecting payment. Customer support very dubious seems to be like the original PayPal struggling to keep up
During verification you are encouraged to accept payments. When it comes to the final hurdle difficult to get hold of anyone. Keep quoting FCA rules but FCA does not support some of there procedures and has said it is not them insisting on accounts being the same legal entity as the application. When support does pick up the phone no one is able to help you have to email and get email responses of 3.5 days which is a joke. If you can ignore the banner to put payments in do not add any customers until you are completely verified otherwise you are help to ransom and your money stuck in there account .

Even with the geo-restrictions, GoCardless' low fees make it an ideal solution for startups.
GoCardless provides such a clean and simple way to create invoices and take payments. They provide a plethora of options, such a recurring billing, which days to take payment and multiple concurrent payment plans. GoCardless also boast very low fees in comparison to solutions such as PayPal.
Last I checked, GoCardless does not allow individuals from locations such as the United States to pay, limiting me to take payment from only UK residents.
